Yeah I will eat at home. I just need the drinks. That said, if these restaurants do go down, doesn't seem like that lease spot will be easy to fill. The owner of the building may want to get creative.

So your first response to an article about thousands of people losing their jobs and livelihoods is "Good" because you've been overpaying for cheeseburgers?

You've had choices all along to buy much cheaper cheeseburgers, but if this trend continues, $15 cheeseburgers may seem like a bargain. I hope that your job is immune from the effects of this virus.

His bigger point was 'who will fill the vacancies'...thus, creativity. Restaurant...dry cleaner...salon...etc....it's not like new or existing bizs will be lined up.

I didn't see anything mentioned about vacancies in the post I was referring to.

If there is one lesson I've learned after nearly

Apr 6, 2020, 7:01 AM

50 years in business, it's if the American people want something bad enough, someone will find a way to provide it.

We like to go to restaurants, to sit and enjoy a beer or a drink with friends, to pick up takeouts so we don't have to cook at home. Those habits are as engrained within us as arising and going to work.

Anyone who through doom and gloom predictions suggests our restaurant industry will collapse is fooling themselves. It will take some time to recover...but watch what happens the day those types of businesses are allowed to reopen. Most, especially our sports bars, will be packed with overflowing traffic!

My business actually services the restaurant industry (not exclusively, but restaurants are my biggest and most reliable customers).

I'm looking at replacing 60% of my customer base.

Additionally, IMO that restaurant wait staff are the people hardest hit during this crunch. Their undocumented tip earnings constitute anywhere from 50-500% of their income, depending on the type of restaurant. I would hate to see us adopt the European model, where fixed gratuities are included in the price of the meal.

unless the restaurant does an unusual amount of business in cash.
