Remote work

Jun 9, 2022, 11:24 AM

Looks like we all could be "working from home" by this time next year ...

Well, not really working ... just collecting unemployment

I am sure his lawn mowing business will recover. We are booming, I can not keep up with all of the work. I mean we are 2 months out on signed contracts, and more coming. That is not to say it will change in my industry depending on the risks investors are willing to take.

And some industries get harder than others, but you understand that when the FED raises rates, they are essentially reducing the money supply by discouraging lending and investment, which slows growth.. Some investors get spooked easier than others and take their ball and go home when there is a hike, it is by design. But on the Fed's side, there is a lot of squirrel fucking that has to happen, cause you to raise them sharply, and it creates panic. We are a heard animal it seems.

You know jack squat about my trade. We rely on Investors to fund our clients, being that the contracts we work on are from anywhere from 10-400 million. People don't just take that out of their checking account and finance with cash.

And If investors are puckering up, it shaves off a good bit of our clientele, and we have to let people go, or personally lose money. You will never be in this situation. if it is as bad as the last one, the entire industry shuts down.

Sometimes I think you are about 25, pretending to be a boomer.

I'm guessing T3 has a pretty good handle on the workings of the Fed Reserve.

Here's one piece on it.

Jun 9, 2022, 12:44 PM

"A dearth of workers is slowing our recovery from the economic devastation wrought by COVID-19. Overly large unemployment insurance checks, an expanded welfare state and immigration restrictions have reduced the supply of willing workers. There are 9.2 million job openings nationwide and 9.3 million people unemployed. As a result, employers are hiking prices faster than wages and the economy is recovering at a slower pace than it should. Expanding legal immigration is one way to help."

Jun 9, 2022, 12:54 PM

not a criticism...
article is almost a year old...and although we have not addressed legal immigration, we have gotten a whole lot more immigrants since then.

Seems like the problem/solution is a little more complex, which I know you are aware.

What do we do about people not wanting to work? Nearly every business around these parts is looking for help. The odd thing is, it seems I am seeing more and more people carrying signs - "need work." Of course this is anecdotal, but no lie, there was a dude holding a sign standing outside the McDonald's drive thru with a "Now Hiring" sign in the window.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-franc1968.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's always been a problem, and always will be.

Jun 9, 2022, 12:56 PM

And the solution hasn't changed. You're not going to force people to get a job, but you can reduce incentives to stay unemployed.

Anyway, I will make it easy for you and libtard @19B.
I said that you think they are coming here to work and not live on welfare.

My statement is backed by the facts that illegals consume significantly more welfare than the the avg native born person in this country. I do not care if they are coming from Honduras or Sweden, that is still the facts. If you think the facts are racist, then that is your issue and not mine.

Nope. I just want everyone to follow the law. I mean aren’t we on the eve of a whole Hollywood production about lawbreakers?

Why can’t I dislike illegals as much as everyone dislikes Jan 6 rioters? The law is the law.

Your contention that illegal immigrants consume more

Jun 9, 2022, 2:32 PM [ in reply to Re: If you don't understand how what you said is racist, ]

welfare benefits than native citizens is simply incorrect. The truth is quite the opposite, in fact. Your link, a rightwing narrative outlet, doesn't even mention what US citizens consume in welfare benefits, so not sure how you're trying to make any kind of comparison with that data.

https://www.newamericaneconomy.org/issues/undocumented-immigrants/

Most undocumented immigrants come to the United States because of work opportunities. These individuals are far more likely than the rest of the population to be in the prime of their working years, ranging in age from 25-64. Studies also indicate that undocumented immigrants are not displacing U.S.-born workers. Rather, they are filling jobs that few Americans are interested in pursuing.1 One sector, in particular, offers a striking illustration: Undocumented immigrants account for 50 percent of all hired field and crop workers, making them essential to the success and continued viability of American farms.2

90.0 percent: Share of undocumented population, working age, 2016.
80.3 percent: Share of foreign-born population, working-age, 2016.

Contrary to popular rhetoric, undocumented immigration is not linked to a spike in U.S. crime rates. Between 1990 and 2013, a period when the number of undocumented immigrants more than tripled, the rate of violent crime in the U.S. fell by 48 percent.3 Instead of committing crimes, the vast majority of undocumented immigrants in the country are working4 and paying into our tax system.5 And because they are ineligible for most federal benefits, experts have long argued they are net contributors to the Medicare and Social Security programs.6 They have a similar impact at the state and local level. Even in Florida and Arizona, states with large undocumented populations, immigrants pay more in state and local taxes than they draw down in public resources like education each year.7

It's ok to admit that you just don't like brown people, and that they're a convenient scapegoat for your own personal problems, even though the majority of them work harder than you ever will.

Economic devastation.

Jun 9, 2022, 3:12 PM

At least in our current state of immigration in which legal immigration takes years. Economists on the left and right have maintained the U.S. immigration policy is leaving America in the dust because other countries have more efficient systems to process STEM migrants.
