goal to nip Weak Florist at the wire 16-14.

This amounted to half of our victory total for the entire year. 2-9.

Thank Goodness things are different now.

I was at the Duke game in 1976 when the Duke
kicker made a 60 yarder as time expired that
hit the cross bar and went through and tied
the game 18-18 in a 3-6-2 season, Red Parker's
last. Those definitely were some lean years,
but those freshman and sophomores that went
5-15-2 in 2 seasons were 19-4-1 the next 2.
Like then, we have a lot to look forward to now.

1980 was way worse when Duke won 34-17 during the 6-5 season before the national championship undefeated 81 season. I remember people yelling "Fire Ford" as a kid at that game.

I was sitting behind an older lady Clemson fan at that game

who was clapping every time Dook did something good. I asked her why, and she said she rooted for Dook because they were always so miserable that they needed the help. Along about the start of the 4th quarter, I told her "I think you can quit feeling sorry for them now." :(

That was my very first Clemson game. Best time I had that year. How things have changed at Clemson and in college football.
