Remember 9/11?

Feb 12, 2021, 4:11 PM

I just a few minutes ago flipped to the National Geographic Channel and it is showing scenes at the Gander, Newfoundland, airport and commentary from air controllers, pilots and others. Air traffic into New York has been halted. Flights coming from all around have been diverted to Gander. Planes are lined up on every available spot not knowing what is going on and when they will be able to leave. There were several thousand passengers on these planes and facilities at Gander are not designed to handle this sort of traffic. Think food, water, rest room facilities, etc.

Saw that show earlier, they did a great job handling all those planes.
Also when I traveled to Iceland met many people who had helped there with similar situations

The townspeople of Gander, Appleton, and Glenwood opened up their homes and community centers to make sure the stranded passegers had as much comfort as possible under the circumstances. That clouded free food and toiletries. That's what the Broadway show is about. Its called "Come From Far Away". Newfoundlanders are great people.
