Germany has decided NOW it’s time to pay their NATO dues ...

Feb 27, 2022, 1:06 PM

Why now? What’s going on?

Did something happen to trigger this?

LOL ... ??

If only this had been suggested, I don’t know, 3 or 4 years ago. Oh, come to think of it someone did. Imagine, another country having to pay for their defense and not having a American taxpayer do it

Why did it have to be coerced? Why was it not voluntary?

Feb 27, 2022, 6:09 PM

What is it about the various nations of Europe that makes them think that they don’t have this obligation and that they can hold back while the USA foots the bill and provides protective deterrent?

Wait ... I may have answered my own question.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not what you think

Feb 27, 2022, 10:18 PM

This isn't about all the NATO countries putting money into some collective pot. It's about them each, individually, spending a particular fraction of their GDP on defense. The US doesn't spend more when another country spends less.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

2% of the GDP (at a minimum) was the agreement.

Mar 1, 2022, 1:24 PM

Only now is Germany fulfilling that promise.

Why? That’s the question.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The agreement was a “goal” of 2%

Mar 2, 2022, 11:43 PM

Pretty obvious why Germany is planning to increase now.

Mar 1, 2022, 12:40 PM [ in reply to Why did it have to be coerced? Why was it not voluntary? ]

It's the sense of entitlement they feel because the US is considered so much wealthier than the rest of NATO.

Dear @ooutlaw1081, not sure if you are making a parody of Obama's late to the party push for Germany to fork over more money for NATO -or- if you are attempting to show that Obama was on the ball as a 'great leader.'

So 6 months before the end of Obama's 8 years as president, he finally recognized that Russia was a threat (after, under his watch, Russia took over the Ukrainian port city of Sevastopol).

### was Obama during the 2012 election campaign? Oh yes, on a hot mike Obama was caught talking to Medvedev (sp?) ... aka Putin's puppet ... to 'tell Vladimir that he'd have more flexibility' after he won a 2nd term.

M.Romney (who's no prize) had warned (in a presidential debate with Obama) of Russia's resurgence as a threat to the world. Obama responded with his snarky and ignorant comment that 'the Cold War was over 2 decades ago' and to catch up.

Obama's ignorance and his elevation of Lyin' Biden to VP created this long interval of leaderless America.

Oh yes, and Obama got a 'talk is cheap' agreement from Merkel to fork out more $$ for NATO, but when Trump called for the bill to be paid, Germany went apoplectic in their attacks on DJT as 'Orange Man Bad.'

Obama and Lyin' Biden say 'you're welcome, America.'

happening right now.

Hating Trump has become a popular sport, but he was right in so many ways that it becomes necessary for critics to simply spout out broad generalities regarding his “traitorous” activities.

The fact is that Trump is no more of a traitor than Hillary Clinton.

While they are both greatly flawed individuals, neither had traitorous intentions for their country.

It’s high time that zealots on both sides lay down the vitriol and recognize that people say things and do things in politics that do not necessarily reflect their patriotism or lack of it.

I don't care for Trump, Hillary or Biden. I'm hoping a new group of leaders emerge. Maybe Ron Desantis. I was also impressed with Tulsi Gabbard's speech at CPAC this week and she's a Democrat.

Re:Hillary / FBI / CIA & Steele dossier = overthrow attempt

Feb 28, 2022, 12:19 AM

The completely discredited Steele dossier, in which collusion by Hillary, the FBI, and the CIA were the main actors, was the strongest proven recent example of an attempt to overthrow the democracy.

CIA, Hillary, and FBI launched this scam in an attempt to discredit and then to impeach DJT.

That Trump alleged election fraud in the 2020 election ... same as Hillary did after losing in 2016 ... and same as GA Gubernatorial loser Stacy Abrams did ... doesn't come close to concluding that DJT was trying to overthrow the democracy.

Challenging an election is a million miles away from overthrowing the democracy.

Where was all this outrage when he rolled into Crimea?

Feb 27, 2022, 1:47 PM [ in reply to Re: Germany has decided NOW it’s time to pay their NATO dues ... ]

Trump is definitely a lightning rod for criticism and he brings it on himself, but there is no rational way to accuse him of supporting Putin unless you just hate him so much it clouds your judgement,

He absolutely warned everyone that NATO was failing because it’s membership was playing coy with Russia while the USA bore the costs.

Trump may admire Putin’s ability to conceive of a strategy and to make it work, but Trump has never ever cozied up to Putin’s obvious expansionist goals.

That is strictly democratic propaganda.

Could it be said that this group of DEMs are racists, haters, socialists..

Feb 27, 2022, 2:07 PM

bad policy makers, dislike America as they found it in 2020 so now want to steer her towards the greener pastures of left-wing but historically failed Socialism, may actually dislike the middle-class & tax paying Whites even though many of Dem leaders are White, have disregard for our Constitution & laws on the books, praise illegal immigration even though it will affect their own neighborhoods/schools, love higher taxes & huge government spending so to pay off their constituents, labor unions & important minority voters..yada-yada-yada.

I think American would be better withOUT DEMs especially when history has them as the Political Party that was aligned with the KKK, Jim Crow and unbelievably had nation’s longest filibuster around 1964 in order to NOT pass the Civil Rights Act..

and the Republicans got the needed votes to put that Act on Lyndon Johnson’s desk to sign..

yet not one Black voter knows or wants to remember any of those shameful Dem actions. But believe Blacks, Hispanics & other minorities are seeing the light..finally!

Re: Could it be said that this group of DEMs are racists, haters, socialists..

I would think it to be better that one party to take the foreigners money with them getting small favors, than the other party taking all they can from the rich and the poor of America causing the cost of living to sky rocket for all Americans, with the poorest becoming homeless!!!

Feb 27, 2022, 2:19 PM [ in reply to Could it be said that this group of DEMs are racists, haters, socialists.. ]

I really believe the country needs to split to have designated socialist states and states that follow the ideas of what the founding fathers had when breaking away from the Kings rule.

Let’s be honest here, most normal Americans are never going to be able to co-exist with the 21st century liberal party. Decent people are never going to agree it’s ok to murder children through abortion or have Men wacking off body parts and demanding to be called women. Criminals by the thousands invading the southern border yet we demand other countries borders be respected. It’s all so #### backwards that it’s time to put the liberals in their own designated states
