You have a few loud folks that get the NBC and ESPN highlight because that’s who they are. An echo chamber of malcontent.
It takes away from the vast majority whose life long pursuit of excellence and dedication to a sport get swept aside to make cheap political points.
And honesty, that’s the best word for it. Cheap.

NBC reporters are asking/requiring athletes to say something positive or they are not doing the interview. Most oblige voluntarily which is nice.

because toxic people would rather point fingers, shift blame, create chaos, and avoid taking responsibility.

but most lack experience and perspective. They reason they don’t have experience and perspective is because they’ve spent their lives being laser focused on becoming the athletes that they’ve become. There’s not much room left for anything else.
Stick any of them in a combat arms unit for three months and they’d never again dream of not honoring the flag.
They don’t know what they don’t know.

I just don't think they care.
Entirely too self-absorbed.

What about the young lady that won the gold in wrestling? What a breath of fresh air. She was so happy and started crying when saying how much she loved America and and representing America. She's taking the money earned and giving it to her mother to buy a food truck. She was a joy to watch.

American athletes will receive $37,500 for each gold medal, $22,500 for each silver medal and $15,000 for each bronze medal.
This is according to the United States Olympic Committee

It's too bad that several bad apples, like Rapahoe for the USWNT, give the many upstanding athletes who value the opportunity to be in the Olympics a bad name.
