Recruiting This Week PT 2:

Jun 17, 2021, 9:36 AM

Well Paw is back to the “bored” today. The recruiting “stories” should be run each Tuesday morning from now on. However, I will continue the “Recruiting This Week” for less formal topics, besides someone has to stop FM from getting POTD all the time, I know we are all embarrassed when it happens.

-The post for next Tuesday is going to be can’t miss as a theme of 5* DL seems to be recurring, more on that then. Another common theme is recruits moving up their commitment time, and the two themes are connected.

-Some of you may have seen that Josiah Trotter released a top 4 this week that included OSU, PSU, Clemson, and U of SC. It may seem very early in the process for a class of 23’ guy to be advancing his recruitment this fast; however, if you throw your memory back to Jeremiah, Josiah’s brother who will be a freshman this year, he committed to Clemson in just a matter of months after camping at Clemson. The family has set the precedent of handling the process in a quick and effortless manner. I am not sure that Penn State and U of SC will have the stuff per say to land Trotter. Moreover, he has a few connections to OSU, but Clemson has to like where they stand in the process up to this point, and based on precedent one would imagine that is pretty far into said process.

-In one of my updates I mentioned that safety target Zion Branch was close to a decision after his visit to OSU two weekends ago. He is now saying that he will wait until January to make his decision and take his officials to Alabama and Clemson in the Fall. However, I am not sure that Clemson will have space for another safety take, by oh let’s say July, more on that later.

-Oscar Delp took his official to Florida this past weekend, even though Delp is still slated to visit for the Cookout in July. I continue to hear that Delp is UGA bound.

-Brenen Thompson was Clemson’s lone offer at WR until the Tigers decided to pull the pervival trigger with WR Andre Greene JR, read about that in the Tuesday update, Thompson is slated for an official to Texas in one of the next two weekends. Texas has gained momentum in this recruitment and obviously Texas will push for a commitment that weekend, there is a chance they get that. However, he already has an official to Alabama scheduled in the Fall, and Clemson will get one as well. Until then patience is needed. Do not forget that in-state WR Antonio Williams is still very high on the board, and he would have a hard time saying no to an offer if it came his way. BTW if Clemson misses on Delp, it is my opinion that Clemson should forgo taking a TE this class, as I am not blown away by Jaleel Skinner, and take an extra WR. Lock up Williams and Greene JR, along with Randall already committed, and then push for Thompson later in the cycle just my opinion.

-Class of 23” 5* DE Malik Bryant took a visit to Clemson in June. David reported that he did not work out, as he already holds an offer from Clemson. It sounds as though Clemson and UGA are the teams that are best positioned post visits. I would say that UGA may lead right now, with still a long way to go.

-I made a separate post on Jeadyn Lukus on Tuesday saying : “-It sounds like by tomorrow we will know if Lukus elects to take an official visit to OSU. That would most likely be for that last weekend in June, the 25th. This weekend is dedicated to assessing the two visits that have already been taken and ultimately a timeline for a decision, and most likely a decision.

-UNC is a legitimate threat here. I noted in today's article that Clemson had to thwart UNC's momentum, they did that but do not think that statement meant that UNC was eliminated from contention. UNC has targeted specific people within Lukus' camp and have won those people over, all I am going to say on that. Both sides have reason for optimism and both have reasons to be concerned and that is the best way to sum it up as things stand currently.

-I will say that Clemson significantly helped their case this weekend. Clemson is in a Good spot, and I would favor them, but I can not say with certainty that Lukus will be a Tiger. We should know sooner as I do not expect Lukus to draw his recruitment out.”

-Two targets have set their commitment announcements for this week. S Sherrod Covil is set to announce today, and I would expect good news around 11:45 AM.

The second is CB Toriano Pride, he will announce on Friday. As I hinted on Tuesday there should be good news there as well.

-Speaking of good news, a pair of IMG talents are set for a very big visit to UGA this weekend.5* S Keon Sabb and 4* DE Jihaad Campbell will both be at UGA this weekend, along with 5* CB target Daylen Everrette, UGA is running second for both of these recruits, behind Clemson. Clemson is in a great position for both guys they just have to survive this visit. Both should announce where they choose to play in July simply based on how IMG guys work.

-Have a great rest of your week Tigernation!!

5* RB Owens just decommitted from Texas

Jun 17, 2021, 11:27 AM

Could be interesting if he decides to visit Clemson this summer.

He was scheduled to visit Clemson in early June, but wound up not making the trip. I believe that he will be at Clemson near the end of June he just does yet have a date scheduled.

Of serious note the Manning and the Owens family have become close, as I stated on Tuesday. This can only help Clemson.

I remember hearing that it was a culture fit/lack there of. He released a top ten that Clemson was in, and then in subsequent months released a top 8 that Clemson was not in. He is a very talented player, up there with Shaw for the best DT this year.

I honestly do not think he would have come to Clemson anyway. I know he has some connections to Michigan, but this always felt like am SEC kid, more specifically Florida, UGA, or Bama. I think Florida leads after their visit.

Thanks for the info yet again, your earning a great reputation around these parts. I’d be careful with Francis, she doesn’t care for those who take Post of the day away!

She works hard getting all that information lol! Never a dull day around here!
