...too much food and too little exercise causes people to be fat. 😳

This is why I only eat at buffets.

The extra chewing I do from all the extra plates I consume gives my jaw muscles an EXTREME workout. Therefore… exercise.

I think, to be fair, you gotta place a little of the blame on the fashion trend of stretch fabric.

What was shocking about that?

But they harp too much on meat and fat, when the real culprit is processed sugar in sodas and junk foods.

There is no way that you can stay in that lower BMI range when you turn 40 much less 50. Yes, in your 20's you can, 30's maybe.

goal of 11-12% after a 16-week cut, I'm still going to have a BMI of about 25, which is considered overweight. It's a laughable formula if you're doing any sort of weight training program.

Agree, As we age we "shrink" in height so our BMI increases just because we're not as tall as were were years ago. I was 6' when I graduated from CU...had perfect BMI. Fifty years later, I'm 5'10". I'm 10 lbs less, but my BMI has gone to hell. Not sure BMI is a good indicator.

It's mostly the too much food part.

You don't have to exercise to be in a caloric equilibrium.

It's a little painful to watch someone put in a 30 minutes on a walk or light jog and then proceed to eat at 1500 calories of chicken wings in a single sitting. At that point, you're better off just not exercising and opting for the grilled chicken sandwich instead.

Yup, I used to work with people that would go and flop around at lunch then eat a jumbo chili cheese burger with fries and onion rings.

I noticed watching the basketball game tonight that the guys playing are lean but most of the fans sitting in the stands are fat. Take Charles Barkley for example, when he was a player he was a lean mean fighting machine, but as a commentator he's a fat head.

Apr 4, 2023, 11:25 AM

Indeed as a whole the US population is obese- At 45 I maintain by ALWAYS fasting 16/8 and hitting the gym 5 days a week for weight training with light cardio at the end. This has helped me tremendously!

Exercise

Apr 4, 2023, 11:32 AM

Exercise helps, but not too much. The deal is calories in/calories out.
You can't just exercise and still eat everything.
For example, run all out for a mile and you only burn about 100 calories.
Lift 300 pounds and you burn maybe 10.

Extra weight mostly reflects calories "in".
