Not sure this assessment is 100% accurate, but couldn't Shipley play that role this year? Stellato? Ladson is more of a burner than a jump ball guy--interesting take, but I am not ready to run for the hills and scream the sky is falling--I think we can be dominant on both sides of the ball and explosive on offense--just listened to Dabo's presser from today and feel a lot better about what was open and what happened, mis-reads, tipped balls and what was down the field.

Move Ship to the slot and start LNJ. Ross has no business playing slot. He dominates on the outside. The WRs played very poorly. It was a complete unit failure from top to bottom.

Stellato fits the bill and honestly do not know why he wasn't on the field. I posted Sunday that DJ missed having Spector on the field. He has chemistry with spec.

I'm hoping when spec gets back that may help a good bit. If so, perhaps the narrative changes some. Coaching blunder to not have a backup to spec ready to go.

What I don’t understand is that the entire 2 deep are 6’3+ receivers who don’t have elite speed. I’ve never seen anything like this. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know you need diversity in the receiver room. I’m really having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact we have no smaller and faster receivers on the team

Exactly. The team could really use an Artavis Scott type guy right now. Seems like they need to figure out a way to get Shipley, Stellato, or Taylor involve in the passing game.

I would also like to see what Mafah can do in the run game.

problem is Elliott has not shown the ability to make adjustments. And if the OL can't block not having speedsters at the WR doesnt matter because there will be no time for them to run routes. Plus DJ can't keep pulling ball down because he is indecisive.

You have to be able to run between the tackles to win against a defense of equal talent.
You do not have to run the ball between tackles, but you have to be able to do it. Kirby so much as said in his post game that he quit respecting our run game and focused on shutting down passing game.
It's not all on the O.L.
Our Q.B. is not at this point a "running back" that must be accounted for. Our backs can't get 2 yards after contact.
A smash mouth between tackles running game is 1.5 yds from O.L. and two gained yards after contact from the back.
Give the O.L. a break. It's not all on them.
