Which one of you LDRs wants to buy this as a vacation home and let me live in the basement as caretaker?

I had to look on a map to see where Chesnee is.

Ceiling tiles in a 1.5MM home?

Jan 3, 2022, 4:31 PM

I'm sure that's the basement or lower level or whatever, but...

MauldinT, where are you???

I guess it's common to want the access

Jan 3, 2022, 4:32 PM

Is there a high end ceiling for basements that accomplishes the same thing?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

sheetrock

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

sheetrock tiles? I meant something removeable

Jan 3, 2022, 4:35 PM

or do high end homes do sheetrock and you just have to cut it if a repair is needed?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes.

Jan 3, 2022, 4:39 PM

Why would you want to remove it? That's not really something most folks do on a normal basis, is it?

It can't only be for access; they don't have dropped ceilings on the 2nd floor...

I assumed it was for ease of construction and cost.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there's a lot more goin on in the horizontal plane @ the

Jan 3, 2022, 4:47 PM

basement level...utilities can be down there....particularly a sump pump, if the basement...all the drains end up there...

I've got tile in my finished basement. I hate it....but I was happy the other day when my son clogged the toilet and kept flushing and it started raining doo doo water in the basement hall.

$46 pack of 16 tiles @ Lowes fixed it right up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that said, there ARE much nicer things you can do and still

Jan 3, 2022, 4:48 PM

maintain a level of access w/out demolition

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would I care about the ceiling for a sump pump?

Jan 3, 2022, 4:49 PM [ in reply to there's a lot more goin on in the horizontal plane @ the ]

I get what you are saying, but had he done that on the second floor..you'd be fixing two ceiling of craps soaked ceiling.

Why not just put a dropped ceiling everywhere?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, absolutely.

Jan 3, 2022, 4:35 PM [ in reply to I guess it's common to want the access ]

Obvious void of symetry screams FLW inspired.

IMO, some architect was building a monument unto himself. Art without function frustrates me. Not that I'm not a fan but many times I think that was the artist goal.
