Reading the responses to my earlier post, it's obvious...

Oct 28, 2013, 8:58 PM

We're split into two groups, with two distinctly different mindsets. So which would you prefer:

Going 11-1 regular season, at the top of a good ACC and headed to the Championship game as well as a Top-10 finish, but losing to the Gaycocks?

Going 1-11, losing to Furman, Citadel, North Greenville, as well as the rest of a down and out ACC, but beating SC handily in their house, to finish the year?

Not that there's a right answer, and I'm certainly no expert - just genuinely curious. To be honest, I think we still finish this season 11-1, but I do have to admit there is a certain level of #2 that would be absolutely hilarious also.

Such an easy question it's not worthy of a answer from me! Watch the Tigers go winless except for that one game and you will see a program in its last days.

Way to take the extreme of both sides to try and negate people's argument. Nobody said they would be okay going 1 & 11, but then again, you already knew that. You're just carrying the water for these over paid, hack coaches, the same way a lot of you used to for that hack Bowden.

I am curious to know your affiliation with Clemson.

Fan of in-state rival

Oct 28, 2013, 9:10 PM

would be my guess.

"Because at the end of the game, everyone knew that they weren’t that much better than us or better than us at all."

I hope you are right. It would disturb me to know a Clemson man is that ignorant.

You're an idiot & a C0ck-jerker Clemson hater...

stay off our board!!!

our "over-paid hack coaches" are doing this here because they want to & believe in Clemson & these players & our potential to be great again & greater than we have been for awhile.

they share the wealth just to keep the consistency with the staff to make us better & the 2 coordinators could easily be coaching elsewhere & leading their own programs making big money...

so you should wise-up & leave.

GO TIGERS!

you're the hack on this board!

Not at all, just saying - there seems to be two mindsets:

1) Beat Carolina above all else
2) Overall record makes the season, not the in-state rivalry.

I'm a little of both actually - I love these 10 win seasons, but I admit the 4 in a row has gotten old. I have a several family and friends affiliated with USC and don't know I can handle another year or their trash. Worse yet though is the all-of-a-sudden "we have to beat SC or Dabo needs to be fired" talk that just popped up. I admit that I like Dabo and will defend him, so maybe I'm a little biased, but as much as I try to understand the other side, I can't see how that one game makes or breaks a season.

obviously wasn't aimed at 'wiser' but @ 'dcl...'

I'm sorry but we haven't come close to beating Carolina in 4 years and I don't see that changing this year. We got them this year in the dumpster of South Carolina and it's just hard to have any confidence. A Florida shackling of the gamediks may change my mind a little bit, but I just can't see us stopping that run first QB of theirs.

I would lose to the shamecocks every year

Oct 28, 2013, 9:15 PM

if we could go 11-1, finish in the top 10, win the ACC and a BCS bowl....

Sorry, but that's no contest. And I live in Lexington where there are actually more coots than in Columbia on gameday.

Give me 11-1 & beats the coots. Get BCS other than Orange.

Oct 28, 2013, 9:23 PM

Much better than ACC champs for me. In fact, I will take that for eternity. Oh yea, and win the bowl for 12-1 finish........I bet the majority would take this.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The 11-1 season obviously

Oct 28, 2013, 9:18 PM

Would be much better for the program, and would be a lot more enjoyable season overall anyway.. beating South Carolina in 1998 didn't magically fix the rest of the season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GO TIGERS

It made it a heck of a lot better!***

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't think either of those scenarios is possible in 2013

Oct 28, 2013, 9:22 PM

Ask me in 2014

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My stance is simple

Oct 28, 2013, 9:39 PM

Winning the USC game is more important to me than any other single game in the season.

But it doesn't make a bad season good and nor does losing to them make a good season bad. It can make a good season better or a bad season worse, but we should look at the overall season and judge.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Perfectly stated.

Oct 28, 2013, 9:46 PM

I can agree with that 100%. For the record, I asked my girlfriend (a HUGE Clemson fan as well - probably even more fanatical than me) the same question when I posted this - she laughed for a bit then thought about it and laughed some more. She still hasn't answered me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Naturally everyone wants

Oct 28, 2013, 9:45 PM

to beat the Coots, but it isn't the MOST important thing. I wanted to quit playing them after the brawl in Lou's last year. I know that will never happen because it generates so much money, but we have no other reason to play them.
