Reading about a rather lawless college football dilemma, I foresee..

May 12, 2022, 10:24 AM

Clemson Football not winning another Natty in next 3-5 years!

Why? Well, sadly I've thought this way for the last year or two b/c of the landscape changing what with the new NIL & Portal World being upon us..

and still think it was almost a miracle that Clemson FB even pulled off 2 out of 4 Natty tries against some stiff odds considering the way Coach Dabo & Staff run Clemson's program with strict concepts of honor, loyalty, limited & select recruiting, "team" concept, love for each other, etc..

against probably the best ever long-term program (aka: Machine Alabama) and maybe the best over-all one-year winning team in LSU who beat a record 8 teams ranked in Top 10.

Saying..with the Wild, Wild West World of a seemingly lawless governing authority and certain teams & HC's taking advantage, it may be a scenario where a "play by the right or good book" of life may be against Clemson & Dabo.

What think you and when do you see another FB Natty?

That didn't last long. 25 minutes.

Geez Bill .. your “Be positive” lasted less than an hour? Remember - “It’s getting better all the time” .. repeat …

You are going to see programs like...

May 12, 2022, 12:12 PM

Southern Cal, Texas and Miami (for example), that have been fairly average programs, improve significantly because they have the NIL resources to buy a championship-type team, and that was never the intent of NIL, but it is exactly what happens when something like NIL goes unregulated.

Some programs are going to push things to an extreme simply because it is uncontrolled and unchecked. The thought being, since no one ever said we can't, the assumption is that we can, so let's do it.

To further compound the problem, now you have some programs taking things a step further by contacting players on other teams and offering them big NIL payouts if they transfer, and that was definitely not the intent of the transfer portal or NIL.

The biggest problem is the NCAA and the court ****** this thing up so badly that it may take quite a bit of time to reel it back in and properly control and regulate it.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Yes you are correct IMO, but I don't think that it will ever be under control, and especially with the NCAA attempting to control it. The NCAA, they could never slow or stop the bagman of the past, and surely they don't have a clue of how to control the NIL bc they are up against the courts, and not a simple booster of a school!!! They never stopped the booster interference in recruiting, they didn't care enough to stop them, bc if they had, the penalty for the booster would have been to stripped naked of anything that connected them to the said school for ever, and they never be allowed near the said school for life!!!!

Anytime people really want to stop the worst wrongs in society, they must first make a law, or a rule that causes the violator's grief for a lifetime. That is about the only way to change the minds of the people intending to do the wrong things against society at every level. The penalty has to always be harsh enough so that a person will think hard about what they are about to do before they do it. If they do it anyway, they surely deserve the punishment!!!

I can't disagree bc in a wild lawless college sport word, I don't see our HC getting down and dirty in the sewage with all the other coaches with no morals at all, and that's exactly what he would have to do in a small town, at a smaller college than the ones that are going to thrive in the NIL market in the big, big cities!!!

I'll never love as passionately, or pull for another university the way that I have felt about Clemson from my pre teenage years, and all of my adult life. I'm being 100% honest when I say that my passion, and love for Clemson, and Clemson sports has been what I most loved outside of my family life. And I will say that the best of my 60 years of Clemson FB has been with Dabo as our HC.

If the NIL has ruined college sports at Clemson, especially with FB, I would not hold it against Dabo if he went to another school that can be competitive using the NIL. It would be shameful if Dabo didn't seek out another place where he could win championships at the highest level if that is what Dabo chose to do. After all, Dabo said it first, the fun is in the winning, and I would still pull for Dabo to be successful where ever that may be bc, Dabo has been good for Clemson, and he didn't screw things up for the smaller schools, in the small cities, a judge did that, especially with no rules in place after his ruling!!!

I wonder how long it will be until Tiger fans start questioning Dabo and staff's salaries. If the coaching staff is not actively participating in the NIL (like it or not) or the transfer portal...people will start to ask why they are getting paid so much and not using all the tools at their disposal. Saban hates the portal and NIL but he is using it to the best of Alabama's benefit. Like it or not these things are legal now.

What think you

May 12, 2022, 6:49 PM

Winning a NATTY is not normal for most schools.
That does not define a program.

Blue Bloods win that as they have $$$.

For a short time we were successful with a different approach, thanks to DABO.

Now it is back to who has the most $$$$.
That is not fair or unfair, but the way of the world.
