I really think the Committee is propping up LSU in hopes...

in hopes of sneaking Bama in... I firmly believe that if either TCU or USC lose one of their next two, OSU or Michigan win decidedly in their contest this Saturday (and win the BIG championship game), and LSU plays UGA close, Bama gets the nod. It's fluid, and many other scenarios could play out (including Clemson getting in with help), but I still believe conference champions should trump this conference superiority/ESPN preordained bull$H1T. This CFP system has worked fairly well recently, but obviously it's still being influenced to some degree.

To me they put LSU at 5 bc this sets them up just incase LSU pulls the upset over Georgia they don’t have to justify jumping them from 8-9 all the way into the playoff. This was they can say well they are right on the cusp of getting in. No way 2 loss teams should be ahead of 1 loss teams especially when said 2 loss team has a COMMON OPPONENT THAT THE ONE LOSS TEAM BEAT!!!!

Exactly right. They are setting it up for LSU possibility. Equally, I think they are suspect that Clemson will win both games and we embarrassed them earlier in the year w the loss to ND, so they don’t want that again. Win solidly and see what happens as it appears we need some “football judgement” style points.
LSU may lose this weekend (see SC over Tenn) ND should beat USC (RTDB) Think OSU exposes MI even with 9th string rb

What's embarrassing for the committee is ranking a team (LSU) at # 5 that lost to FSU and by 27 points at home to Tennessee.

......nor is LSU because they are not going to beat UGA ..... and a non-division, much less conference champion. is going to get in with two losses. We need to be pulling for a USC and TCU loss, both which are entirely possible.

to get into the playoffs. Once Clemson beats the cOOts then we should jump them by default since we will be playing in a conference championship game.
The LSU deal is the more frustrating part and still makes no sense.

The good news is that LSU won’t play UGA close

So we can save the brain cells. They aren’t good. Hence the 2 losses. They don’t have home field advantage (doesn’t work for them anyways) and Spencer Rattler is in Columbia passed out behind a dumpster.
They are just used to rewarding that division as the strongest in football and don’t know what to do when Bama lowers the bar.
And if we’re being honest, USC and TCU have looked more consistent in more games than we have at any point this year. Even for UL (our best), we found a way to fall apart in the 3rd. There are still 2 games, but we are not in my Top 4 right now.

By unwritten rule they have to keep a second SEC team close to keep up the narrative. Unfortunately for them Tennessee let them down. All they have left is LSU. If LSU pulls the major upset over GA the Michigan/OSU loser will be out and LSU will be in with GA. It will be OSU/Michigan winner, LSU, TCU, and GA
