reading out-loud what he saw that player was reading on his personal tablet while he should have been listening to the coach.
However, that problem escalated when he, the coach, emphatically read the Bad word that was in a sentence on the player's pad out-loud Three times. Bam, that did it!
Maybe his good hair Bro HC Gundy at OKst will hire him.
Now Coach Venables is without the conference's longest tenured RB coach and one that has had for 12? years a very good stable of RB's.
Plus, Coach V is learning quickly of the daily problems his position & $ receives.

Adults that are representatives of a university, any other public or business entity are most certainly responsible for their actions. I have no knowledge of the history of the coach but in today's world, none of that matters. He had to fall on his sword.

My thoughts;
It has been made crystal clear that word is only acceptable within a culture.
If you are not part of that culture then do not say the word, do not read the word, do not write the word, do not whisper the word, do not think the word, do not lip sync the word, do not sign language the word...
Follow those suggestions and you will not lose your job or end up on the front page of the sports section. It's really that simple.

I whole heartedly believe the following:
1) One time accident = apology, maybe a small suspension and move on. Nobody should lose their job in that situation.
2) Choosing to say it multiple times??? Sorry man, you gotta go. You know how that's going to be handled in todays environment.
3) BV's front row seat view of what happened with Danny Pearman probably stayed with him. He got to see what happens if you don't handle things quickly if the coach knowingly says that word.
4) There very likely could have been something that's happened in the past as well. Would not be surprised at all.

I think the biggest difference between this and Pearman is the player said something and he repeated what invaded his space/hearing, in this case he read something that wasn’t disrupting the room from a personal tablet…. Pearmans seems more in the moment and reactionary, the OK incident allowed more time to think.

I agree Bill, but imo it’s just another indicator of how far we have gone to placate and cater to the PC/liberal/easily offended minority. That group continues to weaponize the moral majority’s tendency to err on the side of fair, decent and Christian morality, and they (the above mentioned minority segment) have weaponized it against us. Until they are called on it, the minority will continue to use it. Sad.

using it as an excuse to be rude may I remind those who agree with the Bible that we are instructed to love one another as our second commandment from Christ's own lips.
Anything considered rude, which I do consider the very least of what that coach did when he chose to read those words aloud, we should refrain from. The Bible is very clear about the tongue in the book of James Chapter 3 v 6.
"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
I would say the word he spoke was at least rude and offensive which develops another good sermon on spreading God's Word rather than confusion.

Appears that they were trying to stay a plague. Why didn’t they just send him to sensitivity classes and all would be wonderfully resolved?
As a Christian (not a good one) I along with a multitude of others, I deeply despise foul language. It would not exist if it were not BIG, taboo and in your face because it is mostly meaningless fluff. Yet the inability to just live with it shows a mental weakness and inability to function in a hostile environment. We are all survivors in a hostile environment but you may not know it because you don’t know how sorry people think you are.
There’s nothing wrong with good sensitivity but we’ve gone way overboard. It Robs us of expressing anything but acceptance to the most heathenistic, hellish and stupid things that are going on.
If my enemies were openly honest I’d know who my enemies are and wouldn’t have to worry about you. Training the tongue and not the heart is still not working.

I don't know the background of this coach, but part of me wonders if BV hasn't been overly impressed with Gundy as a coach and used this as an excuse to get rid of him. I could be way off base here and as far as I know maybe Gundy is regarded as an elite assistant or something, but I feel this is handled much different if BV thought of him as a key asset he didn't want to lose.

However he should resign for being stupid enough to cause such a ruckus. It's just not necessary to offend folks and being right is no excuse for being rude, Bill. That was rude of him to expose himself to the repercussions of being stupid enough to say that word. It was also insensitive and careless.
Exposing the team and school to criticism for allowing a high profile employee to continue their employment there merited a certain dismissal.
