Monte Lee

Mar 6, 2016, 7:46 PM

Not trying to take a jab at Jack but I love the energy the Doug had today, seems like it has been a long time since it felt like it did today. Team seems to be more loose than in the past.

You couldn't ask for a greater atmosphere or day for a game of baseball. Picture perfect day for America's pastime

I'm actually just saying I loved the atmosphere today and it's been a long time since it has felt like it did. I loved Jack but the new blood has interest. The proof is in the pudding, record attendance today.

"Jab" away - what a difference a non-uptight coach makes!

Mar 6, 2016, 8:00 PM

Jack just got more and more tense, bless his heart, I hope he can get an hammock, a rocking chair, a fishing pole and enjoy his retirement!

It doesn't necessarily have to mean that the old guy was

bad, or too old, or too uptight, or any of that; he may have been a great coach (and he was). Sometimes it's just time for a change, plain and simple. This was one of those times, and I think the new guy is the right guy.

Was time for new leadership. CJL was a good coach, not a great coach. He would have to win the ACC more than twice in 20+ years to be considered a great coach ( or won the CWS). I also question those who think CJL is all class. If he was all class he would have walked at the end of last year instead of making the AD fire him. He could have gone out in style but chose a different path.

Lee may fall on his face but we were about 6 years, late,

got to give him credit for that!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Absolutely - the man loves Clemson and always will.

Mar 6, 2016, 10:06 PM

It's just my opinion, but I think Jack should have been gone a few years ago, and I don't agree with the way he handled his exit as head coach. Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind that the best years of his life were at Clemson and he will always care very deeply about Clemson, and particularly about his former players that are on this year's team. So, I don't agree with the way he handled things at the end, but I believe he's far from the boogeyman many on here make him out to be.

Mar 6, 2016, 10:15 PM [ in reply to and he was at the game yesterday and today... ]

he's been at almost every game. Ironically, he sits closer to home plate than where he stood in the third base coaches box for 20+ years.

Why? I would prefer he move on and leave our new coach to do his job. JL is not an alum. His tie to CU was a job which has been completed. His presence does nothing to help our program.

Re: and he was at the game yesterday and today...

Mar 6, 2016, 10:48 PM

I agree but I suppose he is interested in the guys who he recruited and is trying to show support so I'm fine w that. Not the way I'd do it in his place but to each their own

Re: and he was at the game yesterday and today...

Mar 6, 2016, 10:54 PM

Jack Leggett should attend any games he wants this season, however he should have the decency to let go and move into a new life chapter by the close of 2016. He should respect the work and direction of the new staff and act accordingly.

Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His presence doesn't appear to be having any effect on

Mar 6, 2016, 11:01 PM [ in reply to Re: and he was at the game yesterday and today... ]

the current team whatsoever, one way or the other, and I don't expect it will. He has long standing ties to Clemson (obviously) University and the baseball program in particular, still has friends (and players) there, and certainly has every right to be there.

I did not say his presence helped our program or had anything to do with the baseball program.

I just think that is very nice that he is at the stadium supporting his recruits and the rest of the team. I was as ready for him to leave last year as anyone.

Did not know he was interfering with Coach Lee. Wilhelm attended baseball games for years after he gave up coaching. Should he have not been there?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So by that logic, Frank Howard and Danny Ford should

Mar 7, 2016, 8:26 AM [ in reply to Re: and he was at the game yesterday and today... ]

have both moved back to Alabama when their jobs were done, right? Instead, Frank had an office until the day he died and Danny bought a farm just down the road and is in Tigertown all the time. I love that what draws people to Clemson doesn't just affect the fans and players, but it also affects the coaches, too. Jack may have first come with a job in mind, but he leaves his job post as a part of the Clemson family. I hope he stays around for a long time and can continue to be an ambassador for this university we all love.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

CU paid off Danny's farm mortgage when he was forced out.

Mar 7, 2016, 8:42 AM

The university also agreed to pay $13,000 in interest on Ford's farm and the balance of the mortgage -$100,000 - by Jan. 2, 1991, allowing Ford full ownership. Ford will also receive six Clemson football season tickets for the next three to five years.

Mar 6, 2016, 11:17 PM

You do realize that it's not much more than changing the bats from the Easton bats - right?

JK - but I do believe that has helped put some spark into our run production. I have to believe that our pitching has totally baffled me. I never thought we'd be this good at pitching this year. I think Lee has had something to do with that, but not certain. I think we have a different pitching coach, but not sure of that either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

coach see is our new pitching coach , came to clemson

Mar 7, 2016, 5:26 AM

from duke ( i believe ), when coach lee took over.

Right, Coach Lee and Coach See - awesome combo!***
