Why is Thursday night college football so miserable this

Nov 11, 2022, 9:15 AM

year? Last year wasn't much better, if any. Big time college football seems to have abandoned Thursday nights, perhaps they gave up due to ratings?

2021
Week 1: #4 Ohio State vs Minnesota
Week 2: NO Thursday games.
Week 3: Ohio vs Louisiana
Week 4: Marshall vs App State
Week 5: Virginia vs Miami
Week 6: #15 Coastal vs Ark State
Week 7: App State vs Louisiana
Week 8: #14 Coastal vs App State
Week 9: Troy vs #24 Coastal, USF vs East Carolina
Week 10: Georgia State vs Louisiana
Week 11: North Carolina vs #21 Pitt
Week 12: Louisville vs Duke
Week 13: #9 Ole Miss vs Miss. State

2022
Week 1: #17 Pitt vs W. Va
Week 2: NO Thursday games.
Week 3: NO Thursday games.
Week 4: W. Va vs Va Tech
Week 5: #19 BYU vs Utah State, SC State vs South Carolina
Week 6: SMU vs UCF
Week 7: Baylor vs W Va.
Week 8: Virginia vs GT
Week 9: #14 Utah vs Wash. State, VT vs #24 NC State
Week 10: Ball State vs Kent State, Buffalo vs Ohio
Week 11: Tulsa vs Memphis, Ga Southern vs Louisiana
Week 12: SMU vs #17 Tulane
Week 13: Ball State vs Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green vs Ohio

The biggest question on the 2022 schedule is, who did West Virginia p!ss off in the scheduling department, that they have to play on Thursdays THREE TIMES this year?

Both the concession AND the NFL suck

Thursday has gone from decent college football to turrbull

Nov 11, 2022, 9:23 AM

college and pro football.

I heard once that the NCL purposely does bad matchups for the Thursday night games, can't remember why.

As for college, Thursday has gone from something I looked forward to as an appetizer for the weekend, to something unwatchable.

Thank goodness for Peyton & Eli on MNF. They is the only weeknight football I can really watch, although sometimes MACtion will keep me interested for a bit on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

C-USA's new contract has all of their conference games being played mid week so you will have that to look forward to coming up.

Looks to me like the SEC refuses to play on Thursdays. May be West Virginia should do the same.

Would you want to play on Thursday night? There is your answer.

Watch East Carolina vs Cincinnati. Should be a pretty good game.

Thursday nights are bad enough...

Nov 11, 2022, 10:11 AM

so John Swofford, in his infinite wisdom, committed the ACC to playing on Friday nights as well.

The league will be dealing with the fallout from that buffoons self-serving nepotistic abysmal leadership for decades.

I would suspect main reason is NFL took away a large portion of viewers and second big time programs don't want to play on Thursdays.

Dunno but I sure do miss it. I'm sure you remember it to be an honor being selected to play... national audience and considered big boy games. I'd say mainly because some teams never got televised even on Saturdays.. and rarely it was ever national. Now every team is on a channel that most ppl can see.
