IMO this affects recruiting. It gives these schools an unfair advantage.

Jan 16, 2022, 5:45 PM

Sports media outlets put Alabama always near the top and they are constantly talking about the SEC so o believe it makes it harder to compete head to head in recruiting especially since NIL has become like a Blue Light Kmart Special. Some coaches and booster’s will be doing a lot dirty dealing to get recruits.

Headline which has to affect some recruit’s.

“ 2022 National Championship odds: Georgia, Alabama lead the way as early favorites for college football title“

“ College football rankings: Alabama, Ohio State lead way-too-early top 25 ahead of 2022 season“

I hope Clemson will continue to do things the way Dabo has done. I want to win as much as anyone but if it means cheating, I would rather do things Dabo’s way. Hopefully there will enough families and parents that want their kids to get an education, learn to grow from boys to good men of character and integrity.

I don’t know the answers but it just seems to give some schools an advantage over other schools. Now with NIL I can see the coaches of these 3 teams crossing the line to get the best recruits because” Winning is not everything it’s the only thing”

How often has Clemson been in the news since we had our first season of adversity. Do you think we are getting even close to amount of media coverage that UGA, Bama, and OSU having been getting, even when we were on top did we get as much coverage. It’s seems like these teams got coverage even when we were winning NC’s.

I believe we could complete the these teams without NIL. But I believe NIL has changed college football in negative way . I think NIL wIll make it much harder for Clemson to remain with the elite year after year.

Nobody knows how NIL will affect the sport because it has just begun. NIL hasn't changed the fact that you can only have 11 players on the field at a time.

No, you're right only 11 on the field but NIL has already affected this year's recruiting and this year's portal entries. So you can't say nobody knows because it already has.

The only thing anyone can say is you don't know what will change with it in the future.

Simple. When money is involved it will not be a level playing field.
It will be very, very tough to compete with the money schools.

There is no doubt NIL is not good for college sports. It’s going to hurt the smaller schools with less money and fewer wealthy donors. Oh yeah it’s awesome for the players but I’ve felt all along that it will cause problems in the locker room. Again the haves and have nots there. A few of them earning lots of money and the others nothing. Bad feelings and animosity are bound to happen.

"11 men on the field" is shortsighted and a narrow viewpoint. Sounds good but it ignores attrition due to injuries and the huge benefit of having roster full of bluechips to sub in for a gassed 1st string 5* in a tight playoff game.

No Clemson wasn’t talked about as much this year because we didn’t earn it. Those top teams earn that amount of national media coverage because they were the best in the country. Clemson just wasn’t this year.

Yes, Clemson got just as much if not more national coverage during the years we were on top than the other top teams. Other fan bases were sick to death of hearing about Clemson all the time. When we return to the top, we will get all that coverage again.

I watch college football from 9 am until I fall asleep watching the 10:30 games every Saturday. I have done this for many years, so I have a pretty good idea who’s getting attention. I can assure you Clemson has gotten their due respect during this amazing run of success.

I am just stating an opinion. If it helps you to call me childish names have at it. Life is not fair but there are rules in sports to give many teams a fair equal chance to win. If you are ok with teams bending the rules or down right cheating to win, I feel sorry for you.

Our recruiting went form state of the art to what the hell

Jan 16, 2022, 6:23 PM

happened in a year's time. Before NIL even starts to impact, have to ask ourselves why did we only have 14 recruits before Venables left. Why are we taking commits now from people that had one D1 offer (GT) and didn't get that until after early signing day. Then another committ from someone that had no D1 offers. I hope 2023 can ease the damage, but you have to feel that by that time NIL and the fact that our staff, including Dabo, is clueless regarding the portal, will have a huge impact.

You may be clueless, but Dabo certainly is not.

Does that mean that you are like that snotty little girl in the ATT commercial?

(Sorry, couldn't resist. Feeble attempt at humor.)

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, look for the thread. "That's not fair."

Look at it this way.
Success is like pregnancy. Everyone congratulates you, but none of them know how many times you had to get screwed to get you there.
