With all the second guessing on here about the loss did I somehow miss the explanation for the attempt to lateral and run the last kick back rather set up a long pass and hope for a catch or PI to set up a winning field goal?

our favor is a good idea after watching that game? Had we just fallen on it we would have had it on the wrong side of the 50 with about 2-3 seconds on the clock at best. In all honesty either option would typically have the same chance of succeeding but with those referees and the game clock that low I think the kickoff lateral was probably our best option. If we would have had more time it would have been nice to see a Hail Mary or even a hook and ladder like the one Boise beat Oklahoma with years back in the fiesta bowl.

You are probably right. It just looked like such a poor effort, it was clear they never practice something like that.
