The game location is not an advantage for LSU

Jan 1, 2020, 2:48 PM

Its called Home Field advantage for a reason. This is no one's home field. It's a neutral site and an NFL stadium.

Must have missed the SEC Championship game. How did playing in the Georgia Dome work out for Georgia?

Outside of Baton Rouge, I would say that is their...

"home" stadium in the same way Bank of America stadium is Clemson's "home" stadium away from Death Valley. We can bring tons of fans to BOA stadium and we kick everyone's A S S that we play their.

Go Tigers!!!

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

LSU will likely have a larger chunk of the crowd, so it is an advantage. UGA had a crowd advantage in the SEC championship. They were just a far inferior team.

You just made my point. Crowd advantage doesn't matter***

So extra noise for the offense to deal with, isn't an advantage? We've all seen other teams drives stall with false starts.

Crowd noise can affect some plays if it is loud enough.

He didn’t make your point. What he is saying is that if everything is equal crowd size and noise can be an advantage. It’s not a replacement for talent gap.

Wait... You're nowsaying it's an advantage but it doesn't matter.

That's not what you originally said.

Great teams beat opponents while ignoring the venue and the noise .
Clemson's a great team .

Will likely be less of a difference than the Fiesta Bowl. Not going to say it doesn't matter but Clemson is poised enough to minimize the effect.

Ohio State had a crowd advantage in Arizona, too.***

I think the location could be a disadvantage to ellisyou from the standpoint of the familiarity their players have with that city, which could make distractions much more accessible.

think more Clemson players have played in Superdome than LSU

Jan 1, 2020, 3:29 PM

unless they played there in High School. Don't think LSU has played in the Superdome the last 4 -5 years.

Clemson played there 2 years ago, so 40-50% of the team has played there.
Not much of anything, may somewhat matter turf-wise, sightlines, lighting, just general familiarity. Better to have been there than not, that's all.

Well the Buckeyes had a crowd advantage in the fiesta bowl, so I don't think LSU will have that much of advantage in the dome.

Re: The game location is not an advantage for LSU

Teams do feed off the energy of the crowd.

It matters - a bunch. It can also be pressure, mind. If you get crushed and the crowd goes flat, it literally feels like all the air leaves the stadium. If a game tightens late, the nerves and tension of the crowd can trickle down to the home team on the field as well. But an enthusiastic, energetic crowd can absolutely carry a team in critical situations and spur them on when they try to rally.

It matters. And this game is probably going to be at least 75% LSU...and they are going to be amped. They're going to want this, desperately...our fans have come to expect it.

Big advantage for LSU in this one, unless we start just whumping them good and proper.

you speak truth, but in bowls home crowd only goes so far

Jan 1, 2020, 4:19 PM

a true home stadium game can be 90+% one-sided, but in a bowl game you will never see that. Clemson is going to have 25-30,000 fans there at worst out of the 75,000, you KNOW that. There will be 5000 "neutral" people there, who are there because they can be - celebrities, media, reps from other schools, etc. That leaves around 40,000 LSU people tops, the noisemakers you speak of. That's not even close to the 90,000 they would have for a home game.

Most of the LSU Baws have played in the Dome since they were sixteen. All state championships and some playoff games are held there.

Whiff.
