You guys realize Miami basketball got rid of their team...

between 1972 and 1985? They had only been to 6 NCAA Tourneys in their HISTORY until Jim Larranaga was hired. They play in front of a maximum home crowd of 7,600 people and are less funded than Clemson University. Don't dare tell me a good coach can't win unless he plays in front of 15K plus people and is paid $10 Million per year. Everything we have is nicer than Miami.

Ok. Now compare the city of Clemson to the city of Miami

And tell me what the differences would be for 17-21 year old males.

If your point is as strong as you believe then please explain Miami’s struggles before Larranaga? Oh, you can’t. Brad sucks. # firebrad

And who do you recommend Clemson hire? I am curious. Please explain to me who you think, seriously, would drop whatever they were doing, wherever they may be, and come coach the Clemson Tigers in basketball. This must also be someone with a proven track record of winning, not just “program building.” I ask that it not be some assistant coach who has not ever been a head coach, be allowed in your application pool (because we don’t want to gamble here. We want to guarantee, as much as we can, vastly superior performance than what we and our Clemson fan ancestors have observed in the last 110+ years). This must also be someone who is most likely to stay, caveat being that Clemson is willing to pay the going rate to keep them. Who is the most likely person? Furthermore, define “success” at Clemson for this Coach. I kindly ask that you not resort to the “more than three NCAA Tournaments in 13 years” statement. What would success look like that would warrant: a.) this coach being willing to stay, b.) entice consistent, four star and occasional five star, high school talent to want to play, and now with the NIL garbage, remain at Clemson, c.) justify the increased salary level of this coach in order to retain them, and d.) how long does he get before you start running “fire so and so” avatars on this message board? Finally, how much, per year, would the initial accepted applicant have to be paid in order to make all this happen? Again, I ask that you not resort to the “well, so and so at Po Dunk U only makes xyz $, and look at them” standard, canned answer. Honest questions.

P.S. One other thing you may or may not have thought of before: why is it that we never have seemed to hear about coaches just chomping at the bit to come to Clemson or on the few occasions that Clemson has had runs of success with “good coaches,” why these “good coache seem to leave Clemson with sudden, rapid deportment at the first opportunity? And, if you know the answers to these questions, I’m sure you have already answered the several questions I posed above.

You're right. Let's sign this bum to a lifetime contract and stop wanting better for the program. Idiot.

Why so many parameters on your coaching search?

San Diego St - First time head coach, started his head coaching role in 2017. In those 6 years he's reached the NCAA tournament 4 times with one year not having a tourney due to Covid.

FAU - First time head coach, has his team in the final 4 in his 5th year.

It's apparent that Clemson is willing to invest in the basketball program. Little Joh recently being upgraded and plans for a 40 million $$ complex. No one on this site can tell me Clemson can't find a coach that can recruit and make in game adjustments when needed. Hanging on to a guy for what will be year 14 just because is ludicrous.

However, since you have, I’ll ask sort of what you asked me. Why do you have a problem with asking those questions? Why didn’t you try to answer. You mention the San Diego State gent. That’s good. What’s his yearly competition like? Remember, anyone who wins a Tournament goes? Does he play a schedule, consistently, as he would find here? Tell me, Mr. Pejorative hurler.

Re: Ok. Now compare the city of Clemson to the city of Miami

Mar 27, 2023, 2:00 PM

It was Clemson OOC schedule that was knocked, plus there was, unfairly (in my opinion) the idea the ACC was somehow bad or down. I disagree with that assessment. I think NET is dumb, just like RPI. Again, that’s just my opinion, though. However, even with “one and done,” as well as NIL, I’ll never be convinced that navigating the Mountain West yearly is nearly as foreboding or as challenging as the ACC. I don’t think a road game at San Jose State is quite the same level of difficulty as a road game at the Dean Dome or Cameron.

Why did we have 3 NCAA's and a NIT semi prior to CBB. Why did make it his first year? There are players that don't like the city, look at Clemson Football, players from Cali, Texas, FL and lots of ATL area guys. Don't even try to use our region as a Recruiting problem. How about use the coaching as a Recruiting problem. If you actually think that a good coach couldn't find 4-6 players a year that like a rural area then you are oblivious.

Iowa and Iowa St have better players/ teams than we do. Iowa City is not a big place and outside is mullions of acres of corn and soybeans. Ames Iowa isnt any better. That is just a quick example but it boils down to coaching. There isn't a better example than Dabo Swinney.

Woth the right coach, fans will come. Build it and they will come, os never truer than sports. Fans of Clemson deserve better than the product CBB had produced for 12yrs

Viztiz doesn’t “question excuses”.

He makes debasing statements about a supporter’s character and motivation.

He doesn’t trust his arguments to be persuasive enough, so he insults fellow Clemson fans and bullies them into silence.

If the day ever comes when I believe that Brownell needs to go, I will still support him out of sheer muleheadedness toward the bully/coward who calls himself Viztiz. I’ll stop being a Tigerfan before I agree with anything else that scumbag has to say.

I regret ever giving him any TUs.

Viztiz is a toxic presence on this board, even when he is factually correct.

Re: ****Crickets****

Have we met? Whatever level of toxicity I’ve brought has only been in reaction to
Judge Keller and his cohorts. Until very recently my commentary was almost exclusively responding to his/their false assertions regarding Brownell. I have certainly stepped up my rhetoric in recent weeks but your assessment seems a little harsh for someone who I’ve had little interaction with. And the comment inspiring such a reaction is in response to someone who calls Clemson fans “sh*t”, “lunatic fringe”, and tells us to stop “snorting Coke” in virtually every post. Yet I’m the toxic presence?

I've lived in Florida the majority of my adult life and avoid going to Miami at all costs. I lived 2002 in Ft. Lauderdale which is just above Miami in Broward county. Traffic is horrific and you better know Spanish. South Florida is super overrated.

I’m well aware of NIL rules and I’m not going to waste the time or energy to explain the nuance either. If you don’t think Clemson can compete in the current landscape - you shouldn’t even bother being here. There are ways around NIL rules. Lots of ways. Some schools, like Miami and Texas, aren’t even pretending to adhere to the rules. But, you can just keep being an apologist for Brownell while we shovel cash into a pit and not even attempt to be relevant. Apologizing for Neff is cover for Brownell, btw. You should be much more tired of the basketball Groundhog Day than the tnet one.

with only 5 starters and 13 full scholarships to give as opposed to 22 starters and 85 scholarships in football. We need some of you rich guys to buy us a basketball team if that's how you want to go about it in these semipro college days.
