He’s talking about all the chatter of replacing Venables with Bates. Sounds like a horrible idea, but there are some convinced he’s been groomed for it and looking at Dabo’s recent hires, they figure it’ll be internal.

Charlie Strong? Wasn't a HC but is an elite defensive coach that could bring instant credibility and recruit.

Yep. Dabo made the greatest hire of his career when he brought Coach V in, and I hope he still has the coconuts to get another outside winner. Follow Saban’s example on this one. Bring in a top guy, throw him the keys, and hold him accountable. None of this promote from within and have some goofy emotional responsibility to nurture your new guy while we drop games and rack up “L’s”
