A few more thoughts on Lucas Taylor.

Oct 9, 2020, 3:32 PM

Shooting guard from Wake Forest, NC set to commit later today.

Let's not forget that he has received 25 scholarship offers. In addition to Clemson, he has offers from Marquette, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Miami, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Xavier, Arizona State, Old Dominion, and others.

He is the #7 prospect in North Carolina. He is considered the #36 guard, and is not listed in the top 150. It's obvious that he's underrated as a 3 star, and is more like a 4 star based on his offers and video.

I'm excited about his announcement tonight.

Me too. I wonder where the FSU decommit will end up too.

You are referring to Bryce McGowens, 5-star guard

from Greenville.

He is rated as the #3 shooting guard in the country, at a top 25 player overall.

As you noted, he originally committed to FSU. We were in his final group at that time. Interestingly, he built a good relationship with Steve Smith when Coach Smith was here, and McGowens committed to FSU after Smith was fired by us and hired by FSU.

Competition for him will be fierce now that he's available again.

I have concerns that his connection to Steve Smith, and Smith's questionable recruiting practices, played a role in McGowens' commitment to FSU. I also wonder if we wouldn't want to get involved again since his previous recruitment was tied to Smith.

If that's not an issue, I assume we would be more than happy to have him on our team. Hopefully the good relationship we built with him previously will be helpful, as will our close proximity to his home and family.

No info here from me. I just figured the ship sailed as far as Clemson goes though

I think we are finished now for this class.

Taylor is a great get, and we’re up to 36th in the nation for the 2021 class.

We lose Baehre, Trapp, and Aamir, and add 3. So I don’t think we have any scholarships remaining unless I’m missing something.
