"Win and we're in" ????

I'm taking this whole "Win and we're (definitely) in," vs. "we're likely about to get left out" thing as a false dichotomy.
My position is "win and we're *probably* in." Most likely. But I see no reason to assume that it's impossible we'd get left out at 13-0. Does anyone else think this is more reasonable than the dichotomy being warred over?
It seems to me that while not super likely, this COULD happen:
Tennessee beats UGA close, then wins out their regular season. Bama wins out their regular season. Bama edges Tenn in the SECCG. UGA only loses that one reg season game. TCU finishes unbeaten. Ohio State OR Mich finish 13-0 and BT Champs (the other only loses the OSU-Mich game) TCU finishes unbeaten Clemson finishes 13-0
So, we've got the SEC and Big Ten Champs definitely occupying two spots, and 13-0 ACC Champs Clemson, 13-0 B12 Champs TCU, vying for the other two spots with 11-1 UGA, 11-1 Ohio State and 12-1 Tennessee hovering over their shoulders. Tennessee would have a nice case, given they split with SEC Champ Alabama and finished 12-1. Do I think Clemson would probably get in here? Yeah, probably. Do I think it's a foregone conclusion? Not really. At the very least, I'd be a tad worried before the final selections were made.

An undefeated TCU has a better chance of getting left out than an undefeated Clemson in my opinion. Win and were in.

I can agree with that . . .

I think TCU would likely get left out before us, too. But there's more risk this year (at this juncture, anyway) than people want to admit.
There is a lot of football left though. Crazy upsets may happen.

If we are undefeated at the end of the season, we go to the playoffs. Despite what ESPN and FOX want you to believe; barring all power 5 conference champs being undefeated, there’s no way an undefeated power 5 conference champ gets left out of the playoffs.
Enjoy what you can control ( cheering for the Tigers) and tune out what you can’t (national media). I promise your day will be better.

Winning out will be very difficult in my opinion. The ND game will tell us a lot.
Teams see the Tigers as beatable and we will definitely get their best shot .

Winning all the games never is "easy", but it is quite an accomplishment. I don't see anyone else who would be undefeated as having a better resume' than us. That said, time will tell. We find out more as the season concludes. I just hope we win our games convincingly. It all starts this Sat. at ND. Go Tigers!!!

just normal fun speculation. I'm enjoying what we have going plenty well, I just don't get all the overly-confident denial that scenario X supposedly **cannot** happen. I'm not particularly worried either way, b/c I really don't think we'd beat Georgia or Ohio St anyway. I'd have mixed feelings b/c I obviously wouldn't want us to get left out at 13-0, but I also would be pretty pessimistic about our chances vs. UGA, Ohio St. or Tenn.

that the ACC champ trumps the BIg12 , Pac12 , and BIG10 runner up.
especially of the ACC champ is Undefeated and double especially if it is Clemson.

I think a lot will depend on how we look in our final few games. Our remaining schedule looks pretty easy compared to the other top 6 teams, but if we struggle to put away these weak teams, we could be on the outside looking in.

of it. We won't be left out if we have 13 wins and 0 losses, one of those wins being the conference championship. Won't happen, guaranteed.

I really don't understand how some on here can say that a 13-0 Clemson team is a lock. This year is setting up to be different from years past. I think Clemson gets in if they start playing like a top 4 team. Keep winning close games and they could get jumped by several 1 loss SEC and Big 10 teams. It would also be great to play a ranked UNC team for the ACC championship.

Every year it’s the same thing and every year it’s “different”

If we win out we are an undefeated conference champ. 100% we would be in. Now one loss and all bets are off but I highly suspect if we are a one loss conference champion we will still be in.

this year and they aren't going to leave a 13-0 p5 champ out of the playoff in favor of any 1-loss non-champ. It just isn't going to happen.

That's fine. I say "Win and we're in" all the time because

realistically, there's a 99% chance that "Win and we're in". But that's fine if you want to point out the perfect storm that could result in a 1% chance of the Playoff Committee leaving an undefeated ACC Champion out in favor of ANOTHER SEC team for a rematch. I'm fine with people acknowledging that in the same way I'm fine with people who believe Scientology...as long as you don't overwhelm the board with your fretting and concern, that's cool.

Lots of scenarios where an undefeated Clemson is left out.Hope it doesn't come to that.
