A desperation attempt by the ACC to save face for Swofford’s ineptness as the Commissioner. There is no way ESPN is going to pony up to make this type of deal lucrative enough for all the teams involved. This would deter their plans for a mega-SEC. Besides, the travel cost involved in this type of arrangement would detract from the perceived revenues gained at the end of the day.

While I think the new commissioner is doing some great things, unfortunately his predecessor left him too big of a hole to climb out of this time. As the article stated, it’s time for the teams in the ACC to do what’s best for them. Waiting on the ACC to do something is what has put us in this mess to begin with.

I don’t disagree.
Back in the day Clemson was the third smallest member of the ACC, larger than Wake and Duke.
Since then we have more than doubled the student body, changing the character of campus.

If we join the SEC, we will be in a smaller sized group with Ole Miss, Miss St., Missouri, Arkansas, Vanderbilt….

Leaving a league dominated by 4 NC schools, to a league that will eventually be dominated by 2 giant Texas schools.
Dropping teams like NC St., UNC, Va Tech, UVA, Ga Tech, FSU(?), ND, for UGA, USC, Tenn, UF, Alabama, LSU, OU, etc…
Definitely a great football conference with some good basketball, baseball, etc…
UNC and U. Texas are run by northeastern liberals, generally idiots that want to drive the conference bus.

I just want to see the best outcome for Clemson! We probably get pushed to the SEC (along with FSU and Miami), or the ACC puts together a miracle TV deal including ND. Clemson has to stay in the top tier competitively not just for TV money.

The Big 10 would be poison for Clemson. Adding UCLA and USC is an awful fit for them, but Big 10 fans always want to go to LA to escape their awful weather in the winter.

The ACC probably becomes a Super Big East conference adding WVU, Cincinnati UCF, others. ND ends up in the Big 10. The PAC 12 and Big 12 merge into something like the Big West adding Houston, SMU, Utah, others. So we end up with 4 big ~20 team conferences (farm leagues) with two giant TV contracts and two smaller contracts for the other two.

Like how they term it "ACC and PAC12 partnership"

Considering how that last partnership among the ACC, Big 10, and PAC12 has turned out I'd say this is a waste of time. It is high time for Clemson to start looking out for ourselves and to #### with the ACC.

American Coastal Conference. Atlantic and Pacific divisions. Realistically it would work. Championship games rotates Vegas and Charlotte. Based on limited options, this might not be as bad as we think. Tigers and Oregon would become routine!

I don't think it is a terrible idea, as long as the regular season only consists of 2 games (home and away) for each school against the division from the other coast. And this conference will be at least as strong consistently as the B1G, who really still has only 1 true regular contender program (OSU) even after adding USC and UCLA!

That would be weak.
