Why? More $ for ACC and thus more $ for Clemson.

in my opinion this was overall the weakest year for the ACC that I can ever remember. For allot of the year Duke was the only ranked team.

But how much of that was the perception produced by the media. Once teams get into conference play, the narrative for a conference is almost locked in. The Pac-10 was great. The B1G was really good. Those 2 conferences combined have 1 less team in the final 8 than the MAAC. The SEC was the "best conference." They have the same number of teams as the MAAC. Pundits tell us what we are supposed to think and most of the time we believe them.
To me, Gonzaga says it all. Around 50% of ESPN's brackets had Gonzaga winning it all. I watched them for the first time this year against Chreighton and asked a buddy of mine why anybody would think they would win anything. If they played the rest of the year like they played the last 2 games, they would have finished behind us in the ACC.
Peaking at the right time, lucky, or whatever. The depths that the ACC sank to this year seems to be, primarily, media driven or maybe I should say drivel.

Well said Bareftn. And that gave the Brownell bashers that much more to scream about. Clemson played some close games with the 3 teams from the ACC that are still in it. Maybe those games were tougher than most thought at he time.

Most logical Brownell bashers are looking at the total body of that last 12 years not 3 close games. We finished in the bottom 4 no excuse. I have said it multiple times I could care less what they do because I cannot do anything about it but let’s not say because 2 blue bloods and a Miami team making the Elite 8 excuses our 21-22 year.

I don't consider myself a Brownell basher, but I don't consider myself a supporter at this point either. If you are satisfied with the state of the program then I don't see people having high basketball standards for the school. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that. Brownell handles everything (other than maybe public relations) off the court very well. Clemson has a clean program with an excellent scholastic side of the program.
However, things on the court are simply mediocre. Brownell will have some good years and some bad years. To me his best jobs coaching have been when he has had less talent and still manages to finish in the middle of the pack. The problem is the good years never seem to be great.
I'm not going to tell you that a new coach will come in and do better. It's a good chance that they will not even do as well. I'm OK with that because I do think that there is a better chance that they come in and do great, than Coach Brownell making that next step. I appreciate what Coach Brownell has done for the program but I think that it was time to move on.
I will be fully behind Brownell and the team next year and I hope that I am wrong about him. I have enjoyed celebrating being wrong about Dabo for 14 years and I do believe that Brownell has recruited better the last few years, but this years record did not reflect it. If we improve our record in close games that will turn around. I have expectations next year of being around the tail end of the top 25 next year and that is very good. Here's to Brownell exceeding my expectations and making it a great year.

"Proud of playing in the ACC."

"Our league is really, really good," Larranaga said. "Everybody recognizes Duke and Carolina, those teams are traditionally very very strong. But the other teams in our league are very talented, very deep, have great coaches. Very proud of being a part of the ACC."
