It sounds like a pastor is using the example of high school football players verbally committing and drawing a parallel to commitment in the religious sense. What's the problem?
Who is this backlash supposedly being directed to?

He’s not particularly positive about basketball. He’ll throw the players under the bus in a second. The only aspect of Clemson sports that he is positive about is Brad Brownell - who has never done anything but exceed all reasonable expectations in his opinion. Any of us that that don’t agree with him are terrible fans. He has said as much on numerous occasions.

could use the notion of how guys throw around the word commitment and we've watered down what that word actually means.
Either way, no idea how that makes Clemson looks bad.

It's really really really weird for a grown man to be talking about 17-18 year olds college decisions as if it has some kind of religious meaning. Needs to get a grip.

Don’t mean to be judgmental but you may be sitting in the wrong church. Using college sports as your spiritual context is not the best way to get the point across from the pulpit or pastor. Before I get judged or flamed remember I did not start this topic.

So many examples in the Bible of commitment and lack of it. Eternal consequences. Using college decommits to illustrate a sermon point reveals guy who tries to grab the audience’s attention or he doesn’t know the Bible well enough for an illustration. Pretty bad situation. Billy Graham once stated 50% of pastors have not had an encounter with living God.

So... I have no idea why this photo was used, or if it really was used. That said it Foreman in the photo showing off his Tiger Tattoo whilst wearing Clemson swag. You know, before he signed with USC. Meh.. its him that has to live with it, maybe he just likes Tigers. Maybe USC has as many Nicknames/Mascots as the Auburn Tigers/War Eagles/Fighting squirrels!

Why would Clemson get backlash for something that happened at a church? Was Dabo, BV, or LH the pastor? Was this a service being held amongst the football team? If the answers to these questions are no or I don’t know then how in any way could there be any backlash.
