His NIL compensation isn't increased. This is what it's going to be like in the future. Why would you not threaten the portal unless you get more money? Each year is going to be like a 1 year contract.
If I thought we could touch his NIL compensation I would say we should go after him.

And a car for two years at Miami, he ought to be able to get that too there. Getting him is the difference in winning the ACC, or just being decent.
Miami picked up the Sun Belt Player of the year from Arkansas State in the portal a power forward the other day. Wonder what he is getting?

Yes, this is why it's basically going to be a one year contract with players. Why would you not put your hat in the portal and field NIL offers from other teams? Every player good player will be doing this. With no salary cap, teams will be very lopsided, unlike what we are seeing right now in college basketball.

Go pro… I would not touch the guy. He got talked into that one. How many agents are sitting around targeting the players from the Elite 8 to let them know they are not compensated enough. The powers really ###### up this up. Wonder how many teams would touch the guy with this mentality. Maybe he can get in the portal and join the long list of others that cannot find a team.
Did his NIL contract state that he would get a boost if he was on a team that made the Elite 8?
I would figure them that it would be ok for the NIL to be withdrawn or lessened if expectations were not met as well.

That’s also why American corporations have been losing for decades to companies from Japan, China, and sometimes even Europe. American corporations are focused on the quarterly and annual or profit margin. Japanese and Chinese companies are looking 10 to 20 years ahead at a minimum!
Go read the book the millionaire next-door.
Go talk to billionaires and highly successful people. They will tell you to screw college and find a mentor and work for him for free for a year.
Almost all of the millionaires I know skipped college. They went into real estate or started some type of business right after high school or shortly after learning a skill or trade in their 20s.

We are talking 2 different things in my mind. Mine would be a job. His is a scholarship and he signed a NIL contract and now leveraging for more money because of where his TEAM finished in the NCAA’s. Just stinks to me especially when it’s supposedly an amateur sport (which is obvious it is not). Just miss the days when a guy was happy to be recruited and then play for 3-4 years and see where that got them in regards to the pros. I’m old school it stinks in my opinion and again just sharing my thoughts which at the end of the day will change nothing.

So, the school can’t be directly involved with NIL but the player makes demands that the school can’t meet? This is ludicrous. Glad I’m not a coach dealing with this nonsense.

Should just allow them to go pro out of high school and save college athletics. Recruiting is now a joke. Best players should commit anywhere and then jump in the portal and wait for the highest bidder.

Hypothetically if the portal and NIL would have been around when TL was a freshman. What if he had announced after the championship game that he was going into the portal because he feels he is worth more than his current NIL being he was an instrumental player in the championship season. Everyone would be good with that? The facts about his play are factual I do not question that but the love for the school and game has been replaced with the money. Give players their living expenses and education and all of them a little money to put back or whatever tattoo they want to purchase. That’s all great. But these 1 year deals and bolt to the highest bidder takes out a lot of teams before the season starts because they cannot afford to keep up.
