Correct call yes. Correct side yes. Is this a dumb rule? Yes. This is baseball you have to have tough hits like this its what makes the game fun! If you go home with no grass stains or dirt marks then what you doing! I love baseball & My tigers but this is the dumbest rule ever. Ill take the win no doubt but I hate that rule. A little contact here and there is what is so much fun. Just like plowing over the catcher, that was fun! I hate it when dumb rules like that get in the way of a classic game. Yea they tie it up but who is to say next AB they strike out and we win with a go ahead score in the top of the 10th! Just saying, correct call. Dumb rule.

It is a dumb rule until you, your son or your grandson get seriously injured by an opponent barreling into him full speed when he was already out by feet or yards. Then you would be screaming “We need a rule”! No , the rule makes sense. The game of baseball doesn’t need ferocious hits to be great to play or watch. I bet you would like to see boxing go back to bare knuckles too……

Na I would just tell my kid/Grandson that's sports. Contact happens either embrace it or be soft like all these other woke a$$ kids/parents. Its sports bro contact happens.

It’s not a dumb rule. Baseball is not football and these players are not wearing football pads. A good hard slide in an attempt to break up a double play is fine. In fact it’s part of the game. I knew a guy back in the 70’s who was playing second base and when he threw to first on a similar play the runner didn’t slide and he got hit in the mouth. He lost three teeth.
Are you in favor of eliminating the charging call in basketball?

Yes, it was the correct call when it was called against us, although our player did not interfere with the throw. The rule says you have to slide or are guilty of interference regardless of whether you make contact with the defensive player or not. I'm not sure that even the announcers know the rule, as one of them said he thought Bertram may have been hit after he threw the ball. It would not have made any difference.

get fans and maybe even announcers not knowing the rules, but the coaches and players know them. It was just theatrics on their part. Maybe trying to influence calls in tomorrow's game.

Simple solution, every middle infielder should be throwing submarine coming across the bag. You don't slide, you eat the ball. It's that simple. I drilled 2 guys in the mouth in HS, 2 guys in the chest in college, and numerous guys in softball. After a while it was well known in leagues I played, that you better get down or get out of the way if I was turning a double play. I also understood that was a two-way street and I better slide if I was the runner, something I had no problem with. I've had guys slide halfway between 1st and 2nd to avoid my throws. Haha
