Yeah, that's why Brandon and CJ scurried to Texas last week. Hope he commits, he's visiting Colorado next week... I think. Evidently he was pretty high on them but he must have shown some interest in us.

Hope he works out a little better than the Dukes project. Always thought Mikey was a sleeper that might progress.

Saw a post below that said Trevor may be in the mix still but Dabo said in presser we were only taking one this cycle.

Trevor's ship may have sailed but this offer should stand

Jan 7, 2022, 2:50 PM

on its own. We currently have 3 scholarship RBs, and if Mafah isn't given indications that his 2022 season will be more productive than 2021, he may not be here come August. That will leave only 2 RBs on scholly and a deathly thin RB group (outside of any RB signings). We honestly should be making two RB offers if ETN is known for sure to not be coming, but I look at this as, Dabo is embracing attrition and is making plans to face and overcome it. If Mafah leaves, that's only two known dependable RBs left, and I don't see Dabo sticking his head in the sand about that potential reality... and the Clemson program absolutely should not have to face that potential reality, so for me, we need to make Mafah feel like he never wants to leave home...

Re: Trevor's ship may have sailed but this offer should stand

Jan 7, 2022, 9:50 PM

What? Mafah came to Clemson with serious injury. He didn't get to practice in the Spring and was on schedule to RS. He wasn't part of the 2021 game plan until Dixon and Dukes decided to transfer. Mafah has a huge upside but now all the RBs will be on a new learning curve under new OC.

Based on this new RB offer, it seems likely that ETN2 is not coming to Clemson.

I believe the staff new that early last week.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do we know something about Etienne or just planning.

Jan 6, 2022, 9:46 PM

Always thought Dabo came up with some nice surprises at the end outside of the seasons we were basically done at early signing. Get it done Dabo! Let’s get some hungry players too!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, probably says Trevor E is gone

Jan 6, 2022, 9:51 PM

and probably to florida & with Billy N..a guy the family trusts since he's an ex-Clemson coach and honest man.

I think Dabo is an honest man

Wonder if ET Jr. has already let them know....he's announcing this weekend. This offer would indicate he's most likely heading to UF. Paul is a big back...nice size.

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

Jan 6, 2022, 9:49 PM

Looks like Trevor going elsewhere.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances

Jan 6, 2022, 9:50 PM

Everyone seems to think Trevor is going to Florida from what I have read...I think he is announcing on Jan. 8th? Dabo & Co. have probably already been told and are jumping quick on their fall back option, which appears to be a very solid player in his own right. I can understand why ETN2 would want to blaze his own trail--even with a sense of pride in his brother and all he did at Clemson casts a long shadow.

Re: Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances

Jan 7, 2022, 7:57 AM

I totally see that but I thought we won the contest or merchandising thing he ran. So that was a complete joke

Re: Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances

Jan 7, 2022, 10:27 AM

I'm probably too set in my ways, but it seemed that ETN2's emphasis on the NIL thingy seemed premature, although easy enough to understand (from a young guy's point of view).

IMO it would have been better had ETN2 focused (at least in his public statements) about what he had hoped to accomplish as a player for his 3 finalists.

A bit too much NIL (i.e., me me me) instead of team (we we we); not that the NIL deal rendered ETN2 as a 'do not take him' guy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances

Jan 7, 2022, 10:34 AM

If I remember correctly Travis talked at length (well he didn't talk much, but when he did) about his drive being to take care of his mom and family.

Maybe Trevor has the same goals but is now able to start financially helping immediately instead of having to wait to be drafted.

The blanket assumption that kids and their NIL deal is a greedy money grab is probably mostly correct, but maybe you shouldn't assume that Trevor fell so much further from the tree than Travis did.

High profile kids should not let NIL consume their decision making process, but they would have to be crazy not to take advantage of the opportunity when it presents itself.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances

Jan 7, 2022, 4:10 PM

A few points to ponder...

I lost a lot of desire to see us sign Trevor Etienne when he announced that whole NFT/marketing scheme that sounded like he was trying to sell his services to the school who had the highest number ($$$) of bidders. Can't blame him for going for the big bucks, but just didn't think it represents what Clemson is all about.

Not sure if I were him I would want to constantly live in Travis' shadow...which members of this board have already cast him into by continuously referring to him as ETN2 or ETN Jr. The man is a man in his own right and deserves to be referred to as such....it's Trevor Etienne, not any of the other tags!

As for the NIL discussion...seems like anytime that comes into the narrative it is automatically assumed that Clemson is at a big disadvantage. Why?? Is there a law/rule/regulation saying that companies/organizations who support Clemson cannot offer NIL endorsements to Clemson players? Any reason why local businesses who benefit financially from home games or football operations cannot offer NIL endorsements? Any reason why Clemson alumni who have been very successful in the business world cannot offer recruits NIL endorsements? Of course not!! So why then do we automatically assume the whole NIL thing places us at a disadvantage. Maybe we should be asking why the aforementioned parties are not giving back to the University and it's football program.

Just Sayin...and askin.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would prefer college athletics remained amateur

Jan 7, 2022, 2:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Guessing Tigers aren't feeling the ETN-2 chances ]

But I can’t fault these kids for playing within the rules provided. The market will prove what it can bear and apparently asking for money from fans during your recruitment is something it currently supports.

Yes lets keep saying the best is yet to come I mean it's not like we just got Will and Phil last year. Blue Sky Dog really shows the world that yes they're in every fan base. If you TEx2 you have 1 spoh and 2 fresh in front of you. Not saying he wouldn't fight but I'm not as big on Trevor as others are firstly and second who's he beating out?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wow

Jan 7, 2022, 7:33 AM

So you're saying Trevor Etienne is going to sit around for a couple years. Yeah he'll get spot duty but Ship is the main guy. Schools are going to use that against us in this class period. Thats why going for a high 3 isn't a terrible avenue if you can find one you like.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is that the doobie brothers?

Jan 7, 2022, 2:12 PM [ in reply to Wow ]

Great icon you’ve got there. I feel much better about things after the Eason hire than before. I would have liked to have had some type of a similar hire on the offensive side of the ball but will soldier on. Things are never as bad as you convince yourself they are. Have a great day and take time to smile at a stranger.

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

Jan 6, 2022, 10:08 PM

I’m so excited to see this offer go out. Even if Etienne commits to us, I don’t see why we wouldn’t want another running back in this class. With the way the transfer portal is, there is no reason to have only 4 quality running backs on your roster at any given time (currently have 3).

Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

Jan 6, 2022, 10:11 PM

I don’t think this says anything about our chances with Etienne. We have 3 scholarship running backs on the roster and lost Melusi, Dukes, and Dixon to the portal this past year. We have plenty of room for two running backs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

Jan 6, 2022, 10:59 PM

Less running backs, more offensive linemen please!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This kids film looks good—remind me of James Davis

Jan 7, 2022, 12:28 AM

Or Kenny Flowers.

Congratulations TigerNet

Jan 7, 2022, 12:48 AM

I knew they listen to us for recruiting advice. World champ football board has been putting on the pressure for this offer and it has come to fruition. Great job guys! I think this guy is a great contributor.

I'm gonna keep my hope for trevor etienne on the shelf next to my DJ Heisman hopes and a 2022 season free of major injuries. Let's pray for the best!

I really hope we can get this guy, and that our O Line will open holes for him like he got to run through in HS. Go Tigers! Best is yet to come!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

I say also offer several of those OL that are blocking for him! Did you see those holes he had to run through?

Re: TNET: 2022 RB announces Clemson offer

CJ is 0-3 with RB recruits so far. Here's to hoping Andrew Paul will be his first signee.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow. Are all the running backs in our "normal" recruiting

Jan 7, 2022, 8:18 AM

areas of Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, or even instate, either that inferior, or that locked into what I call "SEC Mania", that we have to cast the net all the way to TEXAS to try and entice a three star to come play for us?

Or, more likely, they see the three headed monster already here, and don't want to try and crack that rotation?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wow. Are all the running backs in our "normal" recruiting

Jan 7, 2022, 9:35 AM

Texas is full of talent, much more than around SC.

In Texas, UT is a train wreck, Jimbo is making progress at TAMU, and Clemson is a good choice compared to the other schools.
We already have the best QB from Texas, and picking up a power runner/blocker will only boost our backfield.

I miss Marvin Sims at fullback, punishing runner and a a killer blocker. 316 rushes for 1541 yards and four rushing touchdowns at Clemson. He had one carry for loss running between the tackles, and linebackers hated to see him get the ball!

Go Tigers!

When Tigernet doesn't put the word 'elite' in the headline. They call 90% of recruits elite, so this worries me.
