I think UT administrators understand the uniqueness of their program and hiring someone without previous head coaching experience is completely out of the question.

I believe CBV realizes he would not fit there for the same reason.

UT doesn't need someone who's an expert with Xs and Os. The position needs an expert administrator and inspirational leader who can do the following:

1 Glad hand powerful, proud, egotistical alumni factions.
2 Recruit like a mad man.
3 Hire great assistant coaches

Some will say the above applies anywhere. Maybe so, but not to the same extent as UT. It's a different kind of place, believe me.

No. IT's too big of a job for BV and he would tire of the alumni interference.

To the other poster's point, they need a CEO not really a Xs and Os guy. Might be good to focus on bringing in an energetic leader who can fundraise and sell a dream. I hear Trump is outta a job soon....
