Would a firearm have protected this woman and child

If she were trained and armed properly?

Not sure what you're speaking of. Need some context.***

I don't see the woman and child in your post. ??

But the answer to the question, "Do guns protect people?" is yes. Gun ownership by the general population prevents governments from doing what they do best, which is to kill untold numbers of its own citizens.

Pol Pot killed anybody who wore glasses, because they would be smart enough to overthrow him. He killed 1.5 million of his own people.

1.5 million Rwandans died in 1994.

Hitler killed several million of his own people.

Stalin killed many, many millions of his own people.

And Mao Zedong killed several 10s of millions of his own people.

Guns exist to protect us from our own government, as the founders of the USA learned the hard way from the oppressive government of Great Britain.

We almost needed to arm up against our government recently when Trump was reluctant to leave and was considering Marshall law.

You must be a troll because nobody can be that stupid.
Now we did need some guns to protect ourselves from BLM riots! If you are a Republican you need one to protect yourself from the communist democrats and the FBI and the DOJ…. But if you are Hunter Biden then no worries.

A lot to unpack here.

Re: Would a firearm have protected this woman and child

Walking alone last weekend downtown in a major city out of state, I was bringing a pizza back to the hotel room for my family. As I walked passed what seemed like a group of possibly violent homeless I heard one of them say to the other, “that’s my pizza, y’all want some?” I glanced back in my peripherals and noticed 3 of them begin to follow behind me, closing slowly. I adjusted the pizza from one arm to the other purposely letting my shirttail expose my waistband and subtly adjusted my holster. As I kept walking, I glanced into the reflection of the giant glass front of one of the massive skyscrapers and noticed they had all turned around. I made it back to the hotel and had some really good pizza with my family.

A deterrent is as good as having to use it in most cases. Whether it's bullies, thieves or the government, knowing the guns are there will make them think about their actions first. Kind of reminds me of the belt when I was a kid. After a couple whippings with it, the belt became a deterrent. It definitely made me think about my actions.

Jun 24, 2022, 7:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Would a firearm have protected this woman and child ]

They would have taken your gun from you and maybe left you with the pizza. That gun is the most valuable thing on your person.

That's how 99% of these stories end. At least if the stories are true.

haha….guess i’m a 1% because I don’t shoot hundreds of rounds a month not to prepare myself for what i hope is a situation i’ll never have to be in. But better believe i’ll be ready if that situation arises.

Re: If they were really dangerous

Jun 25, 2022, 10:00 AM

No. Everybody with concealed carry should know enough to never display the gun unless they are in the process of using it. If you really flash the handle or holster in the wrong place, someone will definitely take it from you. You need to get some advice from a cop or just an adult if you don’t know a cop.

Re: If they were really dangerous

Jun 25, 2022, 8:17 PM [ in reply to Re: If they were really dangerous ]

you’re hilariously ignorant.

My cwp class was taught by two cops. One of which had to use his CC off duty to protect himself and others around him during an armed robbery.

BOTH adult cops taught the class to try and do everything you can do to deter an attacker without pulling the trigger first, that includes presenting the firearm or using the firearm as a blunt weapon.

I do not ever want to have to take a life. I don’t even want to have to shoot someone. Heck I don’t even want to have to fight someone. But I will prepare myself accordingly to protect myself and my family if I have too.

Re: If they were really dangerous

Jun 26, 2022, 8:46 AM

You had some really bad training. As soon as you “present” your concealed firearm as a non-policeman, the other person is fully within their rights to shoot you. And in a one-on-one situation like your fantasy, the survivor tells the tale. Any hint of a threat that you could use deadly force can get you killed and most times the other person will walk away.

There are plenty of smart cops. I know a few who are idiots. Find one who isn’t an idiot.

Lets pray you never get into a situation like your original story.
