Women should be given PTO for heavy periods. Do you agree?

Mar 22, 2022, 10:29 PM

I feel like women people with a uterus should be given PTO for heavy and/or especially painful periods. It's so painful sometimes and it feels like all of the energy has been sapped from their body. Not to mention the desperate trips to the gross public bathroom and having to deal with the mess of emptying a cup or changing tampons without proper privacy (they have to leave the stall to clean their messy hands and the cup or just not clean the cup at all). Blood can be smeared on the walls.

I'm curious to hear your opinions on this. Do you think uterus-bearing people should be granted PTO or some other accommodation during troublesome periods?

Funny you mention this

I went into our unisex office bathroom this morning and looked like several people had been murdered, and a hasty, half-assed cleanup had occurred!!! There was even blood UNDER the rim of the toilet, how do you get blood under the rim of the toilet!?!

I think we may stop hiring female employees altogether, the only problem is that we can get them for 70 cents on the dollar and they are far less likely to question authority.

This is why universally accepted bathroom etiquette should be to leave the toilet seat UP, and not down. I am not sure how we lost this battle, but we did.

I do. But what constitutes heavy? Why not light? Also, the government should provide a nanny for non-working women.

What about the ones with huge breasts? It's a real issue - the pain of the straps digging into your shoulders and associated back pain.

There should be a benefit.

As equal of an issue, but less frequent, is the huge p3nis problem. Having to stuff all that into workpants for 10 hr/day is very uncomfortable. Males may need a fringe benefit on that.

Have at it. Give them the same pay for working less, too.

But what do I get out of all this?

If I feel like getting on a drug fueled bender a 3-4 days a month and just not showing up, is that OK? No problems with keeping my job, or seniority, or equal pay? Cool.
