With all this blubbering about NC State, who

Would be the comparable team in the SEC? If State were on Bama's schedule or UGA's, I think preseason their fans would see that as a curb stomping coming up. Yet, some at the ACC media days continue to suggest they are a contender for the ACC title? I don't see it....either we are who we think we are and they are a gnat to be dealt with or we don't live in the same air space as Bama and UGA.
So....what would be a comparable team in the SEC that would show up on their schedule and give media (and some fans!) angst that the game is going to be such the challenge?

It’s kind of like Ole Miss and Bama. No one expects Ole Miss to win but because they win one every 6 years or so it is the best underdog story they have. Same with NC State. Chances are low but if you are right you get your 15 min of fame.

Nancy State is the uof7c of the ACC...

An all-time record that's barely .500, their trailer trash fans are ignorant, mouthy and deluded, and they haven't really achieved anything of significance in program history.
In fairness, Nancy State does have a few more conference championships (the most recent being in 1979) compared to uof7c's one.

Wow! I didn't remember Maryland fans being that bad. Because Nancy St. fans are exactly what was described above.
You seriously would rate them worse than NCST fans?

A few things to ponder regarding Nan-C-ST

1. Clemson clearly was a shell of it's usual self on offense last season. 2. We played in Raleigh and still had a shot late in that game. 3. Their number one player LT - ikki is now a Carolina Panther. 4. Their 2nd best player is with the Baltimore RAvens after surprisingly not being drafted. 5. The game is in Clemson. 6. You can't expect Clemson to be 100th in offense this season. 7. Dave Dorien is not a good person from the outside looking in and will mess it up. 8. Besides the others mentioned; they lost some "key pieces" elsewhere. They have lots of returning players but "Key Players" can make others look better than they really are. Which I believe will show itself this year in Raleigh. 9. How deep are they? Clemson is deep because of how so many kids were pressed into action last year! The competition in camp is going to be amazing and should produce "diamonds"!

It is true Clemson will take them to the shed this year, but I don't think that would be true of teams in the sec except for UA and UGA. Sec is over rated.

I had no idea! It had been years between being able to make it to Clemson games; guess I never made it when the Tigers played Maryland.
But, BigCUfan, TigersRoar and JREwing - you all have enlightened me of something "i never knew"! Wow! You know how bad you have to be to be on the level with SCAR and NCST? And ya'll are saying they were worse! Good lowered!

closest match I come up with in the SEC is Tennessee. Now, not that Tennessee is picked to do anything THIS year, but, like Nancy's Tait, the Vols have had past glory times when they won the SEC, just as the Nancy's have previously won the ACC.
Another match for THIS year would probably be Bimbo's Boys of Texas A&M, the best team money has bought, according to Nick Saban.

NC State will be one of the best teams in the ACC and would also get curbstomped by Bama and UGA. And time will tell if we belong in the same airspace as UGA and Bama. We clearly didn’t last year.
