Will we see Cade start a game this season?

I'm sure there will be a lot of thoughts on this one. Personally, I think Dabo is going to keep DJ as the starter for every game the rest of the season and try and work CK in to get him more reps. The only way this changes is if we have a game where DJ throws 3 INTs and we lose because of it. Short of that, I think Dabo is going to dance with the one he brought to the dance.

Is there a point where you risk a loss to get CK some more reps so you can really evaluate what you have with him and what he needs to work on to get him game-ready for next season or do you just run with DJ because he gives you the best to chance to win this season?

far more than the pathos laden tripe that too often permeates the bored[s]. Kudos.
"We" see so little of what happens that goes into these decisions. Prior to the season Dabo said DJU would run out there first, that he was the best option, provided the team the best chance to win. He had earned it. But, Dabo continued, DJU had to go perform well in the games.
They've now pulled DJ twice because he's faltered. Below is some of what Dabo said[from Matt Connolly] about the QB situation going forward.
“We need to get Cade some more opportunity,” Swinney said. “He hasn’t really had a lot of opportunity. We’ve put him in in some tough situations from time to time. That was a tough spot the other night. That was a tough play.”
Clemson turned to Klubnik late in the third quarter on Saturday with the Tigers trailing 14-0 at their own 7 yards line.
Klubnik handed the ball off to Will Shipley on the first play for a 2-yard gain, before throwing an interception on his second snap deep in Clemson territory.
“A mistake he’ll learn from. He’s got a guy in the flat. You either throw it to the guy in the flat or you throw it away right there,” Swinney said. “Just a young guy that’ll learn.”
Dabo's talking about Williams wide open at the bottom of the screen.
It's a terrible mistake and not the first time Cade has shown in games that maybe he's trying a bit too hard and forcing things.
Dabo and staff have never "balked" at starting freshmen when they've earned it, given the team the best chance to win, and when it would not be to the player's detriment. Dabo has said this many times, I don't expect that to change, now or in the future. I could not be happier for this, fully expect it to continue and will leave it in his very capable hands.
"What" that might look like, or the "whos" involved doesn't really concern me. I'd be happier if they took the names off the backs of the jerseys.
The name on the front is all that matters.

I think we're at that point. We have punched our ticket to the ACCCG regardless of the outcome of the next two games. I would like to see some "forward thinking" (that is, looking forward to the future) in getting CK2 a bunch of game experience... like 2-3 quarters per game, regardless of the score (unless he self-destructs, in which case take him out to preserve whatever is left of his confidence). I admire DJ for the efforts he has made to improve his game, but frankly he is not the future for this team.

I agree. If DJ stays healthy, he starts.

Cade will start the bowl game, assuming it's non-CFP

Is it realistic to think they would make the bowl game CK's first start? Wouldn't you want him to get a start before then, i.e. Miami?

Not unless we are making the switch permanently. As it stands right now, there is at least a sliver of hope if we win out.
If we don't make the CFP, a victory in the bowl game is not as important. It would be a great opportunity - with 3 weeks to prepare - to get Cade ready, game plan around his skillset, and see what he can do. He'll be competing with Vizzina to start by the time spring ball gets here.

Yea I am thinking Cade gets the reins if/when we lose our 2nd game. Until then, we ride the horse that got us to this point.

My question is, who starts next year? DJU will still be

eligible. Dabo hopefully makes a statement somewhere this year and plays Klubnick over DJ which would lend itself to who's our starter next year. Cade needs reps and I would giving him the last 3 games might be a good idea but its gotta start this week. You can't wait until SCAR for his first full game. Give him some warm up games before you go into big games.

That is a whole other question in terms of whether or not DJ comes back. There was a statement by Dabo a few weeks ago where he said DJ was graduating in December and they have a plan. I kind of took that to mean that DJ would pretty much be moving on after this year. It will be interesting to see what actually does happen.

I feel the best way to move forward is to bench DJU for the rest of year.
Next year it's going to be Cade and Vizzina battling for the job. Why not let Cade be the guy the rest of the year and see what he truly has?
We should allow him to prepare to be the guy each week and rep with the 1's... not throw him in randomly in big pressure moments.
Doubt that's what we will do tho...

But if Cade plays well and earns the starting job this year, won’t we have the same problem next year when Dabo sticks with Cade over Vizzina? But I guess controversy is what y’all want….

That would actually be a good problem to have because it will mean we have 2 excellent QBs who are ready to lead. CK would come in as the proverbial starter but if he gets beat out, that is what good competition is all about.

Also, I think the difference this year is there has not been a point in the season, up to now, where Dabo has believed that CK was a better option than DJ, in terms of starting. I know we might all debate that thinking but that is what I assume to be his position.

Louisville leads the nation in forced turnovers. If DJ's head still isn't on right, we could see Cade starting Miami. Not sure you can bench your starter three consecutive weeks and have him still be the starter.

I hope not because that would probably mean we lost another game.
