but I have to agree w/ the implication that Clemson has not at all looked like a top 4/5. I hope that changes, but as of now, I can't help but think our Tigers are overrated. That's not a dig, just my honest assessment at the moment.

Wasn’t it 13-6 at halftime. I think that’s the reason, especially in a “tune up” game, favored by 33.

about covering the spread or the margin of victory which, by the way, is not supposed to be a factor in the rankings, but it absolutely is.

But it should be. You can judge a lot by a team by how they beat the teams they are supposed to beat. Not spread, but when you play a team that has no business being on the field with you (which, unfortunately, are all three of our opponents so far), you should dominate them in the trenches, have separation in the wide receivers, and just control the game. Look at how UGA just imposes their will on the other teams. That's what we did in 2018 under Trevor.
If you look at the teams out there right now, UGA, Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma are all doing that. All of our wins, while we've never been in danger of winning, seem like they come very hard, with our offensive line getting beat by no-stars at Furman or our secondary getting burned by LT's receivers. When you're looking at 3-0 teams trying to distinguish them, how do you do that short of comparing the way they are winning their games?

It makes Clemson the best team in the country to bet against in high-win-margin games. Take advantage of it. Make some easy cash. It also affects Clemson players and lowers aggressiveness IMHO.

So you think all those backups that get to play are not playing aggressive? The starters play aggressive which gets the backups in the game early.

It is possible to earn style points without running up the score, so far this year, we have not done that as we have in the past. We are still a work in progress.
We need to keep an eye on Oklahoma and the real USC. If they win out, look at their schedules, it is not far fetched and then we win out, I don't think we are guaranteed to get into the CFP. An undefeated B1G, an undefeated or one loss SEC champion will all get into the CFP. After that, everyone else will be considered. At this point, our schedule looks more challenging than in past years. I think we will know within the next two weeks what type of team we are and if a CFP spot is a legitimate goal.

Agreed. With Notre Dame being hot garbage this year and Miami getting manhandled by A&M, we won't have any quality wins on our schedule. I don't see how an undefeated Clemson gets in over: a 1 loss or less SEC team, an undefeated USC, an undefeated Oklahoma or OK State, or a 1 loss Texas (especially since their only loss with be one where they were controlling the game against Bama without their starting QB).

No. Are you? I do think our wins are often viewed differently because of the way Dabo has built his teams year after year. While other teams come firing out of the box

nor do I think the media has some sort of agenda to hurt Clemson.
If anything, the fact that we were ranked in the top 5 preseason this year after the year we had last year says a lot about the great reputation our program has. It seems thus far that the prediction was biased in our favor.

Judge, I would say there is not a conspiracy. But there is an open bias. B1G media and poll voters from Chicago and higher populated B1G country are never going to vote a no-loss Clemson ahead of a no-loss Ohio State unless Clemson beats Bucknuts head-to-head. Now Michigan has also pulled ahead. Likewise, west coast voters are going to vote USC. And Atlanta and the southeast are going to vote Bama and UGA. Greenville/Spartanburg is great, but it's not a major population center of voting block.

No. Are you? I do think our wins are often viewed differently because of the way Dabo has built his teams year after year. While other teams come firing out of the box, we often sputter and clank a little at first in the easy games. Seems like people would stop acting surprised about this by now! It's kinda like how they still get all worked up when our fans "RUSH THE FIELD" at the end of games. lol

Won’t matter long term. Eventually teams will play tougher schedules so strength of schedule, quality of wins, and some teams not staying undefeated means the polls will shake out.
Worry less about how we looked the last 3 weeks and more about how we will look against Wake this weekend. Each week is a win a move on, and no need to look ahead or behind.

We play a ranked team with a pulse this week and are a 7 point favorite on the road. If we play strong in the first half and close strong we'll get better looks.
The next 2 games will be very big to Clemson

When Clemson wins, the rest will take care of itself. If we keep winning , the rest will take care of itself in most cases. Regrettably, as long as we are in the ACC. It will likely take an unbeaten season to make it into the 4 team playoff.

So when did a 3 - 0 record with an offense averaging 41.3 points a game and a 27.3 point margin of victory become so terrible? The final CFP poll that comes out December 4th, is the only one that really counts.
