Will State Troopers support Coach Swinney this season ?

Sorry if I missed this elsewhere, but a friend in Anderson said that Dabo wasn't going to have Troopers accompany him for games this year. I hope that's not true. Hope y'all have a blessed day.

Maybe he figured that sense they are paying an on the sidelines get back man for BV, he can also be Dabo's bodyguard when entering and leaving the stadium!!!!

I doubt that is true. I'm not sure if he has the say in that since it's state employees supporting a state employee. But beyond that, I can't imagine Dabo getting caught up in some reporting news that could easily lead to not supporting police or the "defund the police" rhetoric. I hope we don't add any more politics to sports than we have too, I'm so over this crap!

Pretty simple concept...if you don’t want politics injected into an otherwise apolitical post...then just don’t do it. In fact, his/her post is basically a ‘how to’ do that very thing.

He informed the troopers they won't be needed because he will indeed be moving on to greener pastures in the NFL. He just hasn't told anyone else yet. That quote from him the other day said it all.

My friend in Anderson said he heard Dabo's interview on ESPN where this was mentioned. I listened to portions of Dabo's interview on ESPN's site and didn't hear him mention Troopers at games. He did have a bottle of coke on the table, guess they're paying him. Too bad.

Exactly what is a trooper going to prevent? An assasination?
You're surrounded by multiples of extremely large bodyguards... much larger than troopers.
I have never seen a case in which troopers are needed. It is just a reward system for troopers.
I'm fine with it for the optics and for the rewards, but I don't buy that it is necessary. The other coaches aren't protected. Their wives aren't protected. Who is more vunerable?

If the state for some reason is unable to supply troopers, the university has agreements in place with surrounding counties. I regularly see officers from Pickens, Oconee and Anderson counties, and have seen Greenville county working games when troopers were diverted to hurricane response.
