Will DJ and the offense put it together this season?

I really think that with improved offensive line play and a healthy and more experienced receiver group, the offense will be vastly improved. DJ will reap the benefits with improved completion and TD stats, and the running backs will enjoy actually having more holes to run through. I can't wait to see a vast improvement this year. That's my 2 cents worth... Thoughts?

Offense will be improved. I do not think we are going be an explosive offense. I think we are going to be a ball control offense that puts up 30is points a game and let defense keep other team to 2 scores. Unless one of our freshman wr is a game changing type of receiver and that is hard to do as a true freshman.

30 - 0! and expect better passing from DJ, if better last year, it would have been 44 - 0 I will never understand, why there were not passes in the corner of the end zone to our tall tight ends in Cheezit bowl. They cannot be intercepted, if high enough right in the corner.

I see an offensive struggle with the bees with a low scoring game thanks to the defense. Watched replay of Iowa St. game last night, DJ, I’m afraid will continue to struggle with overthrown passes. His running may improve but we’ll still need to throw it downfield. I see Cade entering the season in game 3 or 4 and watch the offense begin to click. Hope I’m wrong and DJ takes us all the way to the CFP but I just don’t see it happening.

I’d like to see us prioritize getting in the end zone over

Getting DJ comfortable against GT. From what I’m reading, they lost a ton off of a pretty bad defense. I’m sure the coaches want to get DJ comfortable but I’d like to see us rely on what I expect to be a very reliable running game and our defense to get a lead and then left Cade have a drive or two. Not saying DJ shouldn’t throw but not when we can sustain drives on the ground.

As I've said so many times, it's mostly, or at least very much, about the OL play. DJ will look better with less fear of getting creamed every time he drops back, and that can't help but improve his performance. That said, our receivers do need to catch those jump balls, 50-50 balls, etc. I just hope that if DJ really isn't "The Guy", Dabo won't waste half the season and several losses before pulling the trigger and making the change at QB. Our offense has to man up and help the defense get stay off the field some.

We all hope DJ is the Dr. Pepper swigging star we thought he was. But Cade will have the opportunity to play a good bit the first 3 games of the year. That’s key. Over the past few years we have become experienced at how to handle situations with ineffective veteran QBs when we have a newcomer star in waiting.

I see more of the same until Cade takes over the offense. QB mobility and passing accuracy overcomes a lot of shortcomings. Based on the ease of first three games, IMO Klubnik will start between games 4-6. And I hope QB play does not result in a loss before Klubnik is given the reins with this Number 1 rated defense.

Wish I could say DJ will be much better, but I have serious doubts. And I think Dabo will get Cade in quickly if Big Cinco is El Stinko.

Graduated in 1976. Been a Tiger fan for half a century. I want the Tigers to win all the time. I just don't know if DJ is the guy. Hope he is, but I have have my doubts.

One can only hope the answer to that question is yes.

But, whenever I think of how drastic the improvement would have to be just to even be slightly above average, I do wonder if it will be enough. The good thing is, we have a hopefully dynamic backup waiting in the wings this year.

Yep, DJ has to improve a lot in order to stay in. Just can't see Dabo wasting a season with a bad qb. The first three games are perfect in that the Tigers play three cream puffs. Great time to help Cade get into the flow of the college game rather than throwing him in against nastier competition later in the season.

Well said 76er® ... I am pro-Clemson first, pro-team second, and pro-Klubnik third. I support all the players who can help Clemson win and hopefully with class.
IMO the QB who gives the other 21 starters the best chance to win the most games is the right guy to be in the game. It's that simple. Dabo will make the right call for the team and the program. Go Tigers!

DJ needs to shed another 8-10 pounds before season start!
The success of our whole season will for at least the third straight year revolve around the relative success of our offensive line - Period!

And they must get back to the fast-paced offense on the order of 70-85 plays per game. This makes it extremely difficult on other team's defenses and keeps them off balance!!!!

DJ has also represented Clemson well and is a team player. He took his benching with class. I am his biggest fan this season. I hope that he comes out playing awesome. If by the fourth game DJ and the offense are not clicking, Dabo needs to start Cade. This team has the potential to win the Natty. I also feel that, from a perception standpoint, the team has to make the playoff this season. I will be in the stands doing my part. Even going to away games in Atlanta and Southbend. Spot the ball and Go Tigers!
