Why was the Boston College bowl game just canceled?

Jan 2, 2019, 11:37 PM

I know they said the storms were going to continue for seven or eight hours, but why could they not have played it the next day?

They only waited just over an hour. It was early too. BC would have won that game as BSU could not stop Dillon.

I know a lot of BC fans were upset as they traveled and spent Christmas there to go to the game.

I guess the NCAA doesn't think much of mid tier bowl games or their fans.

There were FIFTY minutes left in the game... how can you

say BC would have won? I've seen plenty of games where one team couldn't stop the run early and then made adjustments.

sucks for the teams and the fans that paid good money

Might not have had access to the stadium the next day

And the weather delay would’ve apparently gone all day as lightning kept popping up in the area. To me it made more sense to move the game earlier in the day or not play it at all because they had to know they weren’t going to be able to play much of it based on the radar.

Because if they had not cancelled it, the Chicken (Belk) Bowl would have been ranked as the worst bowl of the 2018 season, and that cant be possible for an SEC team as we all know.

Finally, an answer that makes sense! Thank you!

And for those that didn't see it, within hours BC announced that they would refund any tickets purchased through the College & provide tickets to another athletic event(ticket holder's choice) during the year. Boise announced a similar plan later on. So the fans are still out travel & hotel money, plus their vacation days, but at least the schools have treated them fairly.

I heard it had SEC officials and they decided they didn’t want to be there.

Because bowls just care about the TV revenue.

Not the fans.
