Why so much angst in Columbia?

Nov 18, 2019, 10:38 AM

Before this season even started, it was acknowledged that USuK had one of the toughest schedules in the country. Coot radio even went so far as to say that Muschamp should be given a pass on having a losing season this year. Next year, Fivehead would finally be gone, and they would have Savior #23451 (Hilinski) installed at QB, and could start to see sustained improvement.

So, AS PREDICTED by most people, the losing season has come to pass, and yet, the pitchforks are out, and they want to ride Willie M out of town on a rail. Why?

The answer is, same as every year. Reality has finally trumped Coot delusion, this year in a big way. I also recall some callers into Coot radio predicting 8-4 to 9-3 for them prior to the season. Those people are very disappointed now that the Valium has worn off.

What is my honest, non Orange colored glasses view of their program at this point in time? Outwardly, it does appear to be a dumpster fire. But, there are some strange signs. Firstly, his guys are still playing very hard for him. Usually, that is not the case if the players want to see a change in coaching regime. Secondly, he is still recruiting on a surprisingly good level, with all the talk swirling around the program. I think he will be forced to make some coaching changes after the season, but he should survive for at least one more year. He is doing his best to play the hand that was dealt him, we shall see where that takes them.

If it weren't for the Vandy game

They could have done as much with that win over the Dawgs, as Syracuse did with their win over Clemson two years ago. But...no...they can't even perfect abject failure!

Did Kirby go in the coot locker room to congratulate them?

Recruiting is on a good level ? 6 points scored against A&M and 30 given up ! Looks to me like the players are just going through the motions. They did have a chance at making a bowl with a win at A&M but that is gone now.

Texas A&M didn't play very well and still hung 30 on uof5c. ***

Everyone on the planet said CussChamp was a poor hire...

so the fact that they're all acting surprised now that it's come to fruition is just further confirmation how ignorant and delude uof5c fans really are.

the second half of this is if not Willy, who can they honestly attract? sort of a rebuild job. always play UGA, FLA, Clem and some west siders. few in-state recruits, compared to ga, fl, tx, ca. Facilities are notably better, but not the best. fan base that has high expectations, yet has never really maintained a high level of success. really dont like to be called "dirt peckers". im not sure why anyone, other than a brand-new HC, take it.
