Why not Stoudt under center for short yardage?

Sep 21, 2014, 11:52 AM

6 yard shotgun snaps several times when you need half a yard is rarely seen especially when you empty backfield like we did on a few leaving Watson alone. If we are blessed to have two quarterbacks like coaches say, why not go with Stoudt there? Watson is not comfortable under center apparently but Cole is-why not use the strengths of others. Cole Stoudt can go under center just for the goal line and we can avoid handoffs to track stars that never played high school football in pressure situations. Cole threw one pass low and there is no reason to put him in under center whenever needed if Watson does not like to. It cost us the game guys and if we have nobody to go under center we are not a top 25 team!

why are these simple solutions so foreign to our coaches? obviously watson was the man last night, but why not use cole in situations where he can be a difference maker? play to your strengths. there is no rule that says once you choose a qb, you're not allowed to substitute him in specific situations. Its like we are incapable of creative problem solving...

I believe Dabo has said before he is not a dual QB guy

Dabo wants one guy and nothing else. I think given the facts of where we are with both there is no reason why you could not play him in situations that he is good at. At the goal line I want a QB that can just hand off and not lose the game. Stoudt is a manager and is best for that role just like DJ Howard.

I do not think Watson would leave field upset if Stoudt just came in to handoff while also having threat to throw. I agree with you-until Watson is 100% sure use Cole in those situations but that is not what Dabo likes. when you need a yard we need to be a team that can be under center-is that too much to ask??????????

I tend to agree, but the coaches had no problem

Putting Deshaun under center in the SC State game. They also had him under center one play in OT but I think we called a timeout.
