Who's Ready for Tomorrow's...

Recruiting Update?

A lot info over the weekend so here are somethings that did not make the cut for tomorrow's update.

-5* DE Shemar Stewart made his way to Clemson this past week . Even though the coaches were out of town, the visit went well and Clemson should be apt to draw an official later in the cycle. Here’s believing the competition is Miami, OSU, and UGA as things currently stand, in that order. LSU was long considered the favorite, but they seem to have been eliminated from credible discussion after a very underwhelming visit this June.

-Top 100 WR Shazz Preston quietly made his way to Clemson for a surprise visit on June 8th. Preston does not yet hold an offer from Clemson, as Greene JR and Brenen Thompson are the lone outstanding offers. It is my opinion that if another offer was to be dispensed at the WR position that would go to in-state prospect Antonio Williams, whose recruitment I have gone into great detail, but for any new readers just know a Clemson offer would be very hard for Williams to say no to. This is more of a case of Clemson keeping all options open and available should they desire to pursue it later in the cycle. Being in-state Preston will most likely go to LSU if Clemson does not offer.

-FSU decommitment and recent Clemson offer Nyjalik Kelly is set to visit Clemson this Tuesday. He saw LSU this weekend, UGA got a look today, and Oregon gets an official later this week.

-Clemson CB target Daylen Everette saw UGA this past weekend. People on UGA’s end seem to believe that they significantly helped their cause and closed the gap between UGA and Clemson and UNC. In ironic fashion Will Muschamp seems to be leading the charge on UGA’s end.

-WR target Andre Green JR took his official to UNC this weekend. I have cited the Tarheels and UGA as the two teams with the best chance to beat Clemson here. As I hinted in last week’s Tuesday update, Green still has one official visit open for in the Fall, and Clemson seems the likely choice. I think that Green ends up in the class as things currently stand. And on a side note new safety commit Sherrod Covil will be an asset for Clemson moving forward as he and Green Jr are both from Virginia.

-WR target Brenen Thompson has hit quite a few of the in-state schools with Texas and A&M recently drawing visits. I have heard that the Texas visit in particular went very well, we will see if he comes out of the Summer uncommitted, but Texas will push for a Summer commitment. They know that if he comes out of the Summer uncommitted Clemson and Alabama are set to get official visits in the Fall.

-Also it sounds as though DE target DJ Wesolak is set to make a decision later in the cycle than expected sometime in the Fall. I am of the opinion that Clemson may already have two DE committed, more on that tomorrow, and Clemson would have to decide if Wesolak is oversign worthy, I think that the above mentioned Stewart is if Clemson can land him.

-LB target Jaren Kanak took his visit to Alabama this week and LB target DeMario Tolan visited LSU. I still like where Clemson stands with Kanak.

-Finally I always love to end with a nugget and Clemson is expecting in-state priority CB target Jeadyn Lukus to attend the Cookout in late July. A big development in that Clemson vs. UNC race.

-More to come tomorrow and have a great week Tigernation!!

"May already have two DE commitments?"

Can we talk about this, NOW!?! We have zero DEs announced, so two silents... According to 247 we have 7 DEs offered (I'm sure some DL offers could project as DEs but I'm gunna focus on "Edge" recruits). Of the listed DEs, one is Malick Sylla an A&M commit and we're currently removing Wesolak from conversations. That leaves the below recruits.

Jeremiah Alexander
Enai White
Cyrus Moss
Kenyatta Jackson
Jihaad Campbell

I don't believe there's been much conversation regarding Jackson, Moss or White around Clemson recently. Would that mean Jeremiah Alexander and Jihaad Campbell are silent commits?....

No, no one that you mentioned is a "Silent commitment". I said that it was my opinion that Clemson "may" have two DEs committed by the time Wesolak decides later in the cycle, more me reading the tea leaves for certain guys. I apologize as I am trying to answer your question without giving away what is to come tomorrow. Just know that is a personal feeling that Clemson may have two committed by that time. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the updates. However, you do need to get a better picture. You look a lot like Frances Marion.

This is an interesting response. I am starting to think that I need to do a poll about the picture I have gotten mixed reviews. Especially if I am now be compared to FM, the last is the last thing I want.
