Often imitated, but never duplicated. Leonard Post Toasty was a fixture in our weekly football passions back in the day - thanks for the nostalgic blast from the past! ??

Oct 14, 2022, 9:42 PM [ in reply to Re: Who remembers this? Leonard's Losers ]

You sure were up early. My memories of home games began when Tiger Band woke me up on the way to Death Valley. They came from the band room marching under "E" and in the canyon between "D" and the Quad. My room was on "D-3" right above the underpass. By the time they got there they were well warmed up and had the cans shaking and rattling. There was no going back to sleep after that wake up call. Great times and great memories.

I used to sell advertising in the rag in the upstate as a side gig many moons ago. Leonard was a BIG character as you can imagine. When I went down to Athens to sign the reseller agreement he took me to Athens Country Club for lunch (and for me to hand over to him $10k). I met him at his house, jumped in his Cadillac as he drove 100 mph on the interstate with the cassette deck play Beethoven as loud as the speakers could be cranked up. What an experience that was.

I loved this show. I listened to it on Armed Forces Radio while stationed in Spain. I remember him saying those spelling felines from Pickens County.

The Clemson pre-game show in the 90s was excellent too. I wish I could remember all of the characters featured on the show. There was an old granny, a man that walked to all the football games, and I think Strong Thermos.

everybody, of course, had to listen on the radio. So, right before Tiger Tailgate Show came on, the local Clemson station would play the audio from Leonard. When he would give his Clemson score, you would hear a cheer or a groan all along the parking lots.

Great stuff.
