Which teams have an offensive system that would fit DJ?

I see that a lot on here and I was curious as to what exactly was meant by that.
Perhaps some examples would help make the point clearer.

For instance, I watched the Utah vs. USC game. The QB for Utah, Rising, was moving quickly through his reads, finding the open receiver, and delivering the ball accurately and on time. Excellent touch and accuracy. He has great feet and is very good at buying time with his feet with the speed to take advantage of the openings provided. I don't see that out of DJ. That would be a terrible fit.

We're talking offensive scheme. the question wasn't whether or not DJ could play the same style as a team's current QB. Rising is a different style QB than Wittingham normally has.

Pitt and ND are good ones.
I don't see DJ being a fit at Wisconsin under the new scheme.

but I think DJ will be looking for an opportunity where he can come-in and start immediately rather than having to compete for a starting job. Not sure how many west coast P5 programs fall into that category, but I would think the number is fairly limited.

I can promise you that Mike Leach does not want a guy who never had a 100-yard receiver in a game. He is not looking for a quarterback that only THRICE in 28 starts threw for more than 233 yards against a Power 5 Conference opponent. Something clicked off when Trevor Lawrence left the program and I don't think a transfer is going to click it back on.

Wasn’t saying he goes there, was saying a similar offense per the question. Five wide outs make it difficult to blitz. That offense is all about quick passes and the hurry up style offense. As we all know DJ looked best running his two minute drill or hurry up because less time to think or second guess himself. That’s the type of offense I think he needs to succeed, not sure who on the west coast runs a similar offense.

It's a myth which caught on with the shirt tucking cult on t-net. The theory is DJ was a prostyle QB in high school and we run a read option type of scheme so the reason he struggled is the type of offense we run making him a bad fit. The truth is DJ was a very serviceable runner but his issues were mental likely related to handling the pressure of being a QB1. If you saw the 1st pass in the ACCCG game it was a short throw to an open receiver which landed at the receiver's feet. Had zero to do with scheme and everything to do with pressure. If he learns to handle the pressure and make good decisions related to reading the D and making quick decisions then the scheme is irrelevant

Wisconsin and Iowa come to mind and I am sure there are others that are run heavy with RB and play action, straight drop. Both play under center. Illinois with Bilema would be a coach that would do that as well.

I could be wrong but, I think with his size, if he can catch, he'd make a great TE.

DJ is a dinosaur

The big, huge, semi-stationary QB era has passed.
If a QB can't elude a pass rush to extend plays, gash defenses with their legs and help the running game by being a legit threat in the read-option, they won't succeed at the highest levels. It's really that simple.
DJ's lack of foot speed was his downfall almost as much as his inaccuracy and inability to check down.

these days, pure pocket passers are becoming rare. You better have SOME element of running "escapability" as they call it, or your services will not be in much demand. DJ does not have the foot speed to qualify in that regard.

Pro style offense Dbl TE set, max protect, no more than 2 read & a dump off to the back for a safety valve. He probably would do well in that system.

Maybe North Dakota State. They sometimes run an old fashioned scheme. He could make handoffs. But I doubt they would be interested. After watching the transformation of the offense, I think it comes down to two problems. He isn’t quick enough to make the offense run right. Plays are a half second too slow and that won’t work. The ball seems to get distributed much faster with CK.
The slowness, which probably can’t be fixed, makes him press and that feeds the other problem which is zero confidence. I really wish he would try baseball.

I really don't understand this thread at all. Everyone on the board has seen DJ play two seasons. He would struggle to start at a Southern Conference school. Not throwing rocks at DJ, he tried his best and was not successful. So he tags along with his brother in the 2 for 1 deal or he has no offers whatsoever at the D1 level. I mean 10 minutes of film and any coach would just turn it off. I must have been watching a different game than the OP. I have seen all the Clemson QB's since the early 60's starting with Jimmy Addison (the Needle). Mid year I rated DJ as one of the worst three Starters in Tiger history since that time. Dead heat with Will Proctor (30 yards max) and Billy Lott (4 tds and 7 picks in 79). After watching the balance of the year I have reconsidered and have he and Billy as the two worst with Proc a notch ahead. To be fair, starting as a D1 QB is something most could only dream of and every single guy at Clemson had some attributes so no knocking any of these guys. BTW, Lott has the worst passing numbers but this was during the run era. He was a short muscular guy who was tough as nails - just not the best QB.

They run a bit of the Wake slow-mesh stuff. DJU would be good in that system.
