Eh, I'd say FSU every year for the last 5 years, Texas every year for the last 10, LSU for 2 years now....

FSU hasn't been really that talented. They haven't recruited that well in years.

The last 2 years haven't been great for FSU, but they were top 10 pretty much every year up to that point. Still better than most everyone else they play each year except Clemson.

Their last 4 years have been nothing special 22, 22, 18, 11. The 4 years before that were supposed to be elite classes though, all top 6. So, I was wrong to an extent. Jimbo sucks as a coach apparently.

top 16

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

They don't recruit OL well and they didn't recruit QB that well. That's a recipe for not being that good. They did ok. They weren't that talented no matter what that says. I will read it now though.

They may not have recruited well, but according to everyone's big crystal balls and composite ratings they were doing quite well until just a few years ago - as others have said. FSU got lazy with their recruiting - not doing as much due dilligence.

Re: When was the last time a team with this much talent has

Yeah they have the top recruit in the nation committed. Looking back, I was wrong about them recruiting a ways back. They did well. I guess they were just on the big uglies and that Jimbo is a junk coach. I was wrong. They had 4 very solid classes. They had the worst Olines though.

2021 22nd rated class
2020 22nd rated class
2019 18th rated class
2018 11th rated rated class
2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014 were very good classes as far as rankings, but their OL was just so awful. I guess that's what got them. Anyway, I was wrong.

What talent, we have none, you keep beleiveing these so called rivals rankings on players which for the most part is politics we will keep getting sub par players that cant get out of their own way.Just like to know where did these so called receivers we have come from, i mean they are terrible, and Dj,hes worse yet, this team we have this year just has not got it, no mojo what so ever.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it's much more likely that the issue is poor development rather

Oct 25, 2021, 9:00 AM

than all of the players being mis-evaluated by so many people. Other elite programs wanted many of these players. Recruiting rankings aren't perfect to be sure, but they are more accurate now than they have ever been due to greater access to both the players and information in general.

depends alot on the competition they are playing against in high school when doing evaluations, i mean you can look real good against weak competition, and look like a 5 star when in reality you just a 3 star, right now are skilled position players dont have to much skill.

Even this much talent need good coaching. We have "great "coaching on the defensive side of the ball, but not on the offensive side.

2004 Olympics in men's basketball. The USA got the bronze. Argentina got the silver, Italy got the bronze. The USA had these guys all in their prime..

Carmelo Anthony
Tim Duncan
Dwayne Wade
Alan Iverson
Lebron James

and a bunch of other great players on the team.

Miami and FSU have a load of talent but cant seem to do much with it. There are many other examples.

Here is a question for you: When is the last time a fanbase lost its mind over an average season when the last 10 years have been the best in a century + the future looks super bright?

Re: When was the last time a team with this much talent has

Oct 25, 2021, 8:47 AM

i dont think we have as good as talent as they say we have, yes we have some good players dont get me wrong but we dont have the explosiveness we have had in the past, a solid game changer, we just do not have that plain and simple, the defense has played well enough that if we had a productive offense we would probably be undefeated as of now, our offense just stinks to high heaven just being truthful.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh it happens.

Oct 25, 2021, 8:56 AM

Texas in 2010 and 2011 right before Mack got fired. LSU the last year and a half right before O got fired. 2010 and (particularly) 2012 USC right before Kiffin got fired. 2013 Florida right before Muschamp got fired. Also 2004 Florida right before Zook got fired.

There's a common theme here though. One that's probably not applicable to Clemson, but the coaches do not survive these situations - especially if they span multiple seasons. I would imagine Dabo has a very, very long leash though.

no Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, CJ Spiller, SammyWatkins

Jackson Carmin, Dexter Lawrence *( we have Breese but he is hurt)

We have talent, but not much generational talent. WR corp is worst we have had in a decade.

We have something like 16 players out with season-ending injuries. We were fine at Pittsburgh until the captain of the OL went down with a season-ending knee injury. We are as snake-bit this year as it is possible for a team to be.
