When was the last time - Clemson had both lines dominated?

Nov 8, 2020, 8:08 AM

Our DL was manhandled. No sacks, hardly stopped the running game.

Our OL gave no room for ETN to run.
We had 34 yards rushing.
ND gave up 75 to Duke.
106 to USF
153 to FSU
96 to Louisville
44 to Pitt
88 to GT

34 - with the number 1 team and the best running back in college football.

Defense gave up
519 yards to ND
Open receivers all day.

I am not used to seeing our defense not have any dominant group.
No pressure on QB.
No run stopping.
Not good coverage.

This was not a great team in ND.

Agree with O-line but D- line got upfield all night long except on the long run in the beginning of the game. Their running back was the reason they won the game because it seemed like he picked up every blitz coming right at Book! Without him doing that we have at least 5 more sacks last night.

You do realize that getting upfield is what creates running lanes for a mobile QB like Book right? LEVERAGE. Go watch CW42 And crew a few years back. We are talented but too young for the mental game. Book does not like to sit in the pocket which means you COLLAPSE it and get hands up in the passing lane especially when he throws to his TE predominantly. Make no mistake, Their OL invited our DL upfield. How many tackles for loss did we get as a result? Not many

4-3-4 > 3-3-5 ...especially considering the LB injuries.***

Excellent Post!

I was thinking the same.
Not sure why we’re talking about anything else. ND was clearly better because of it. The DL reminded me of ours three years ago and the OL reminds me of how we can never seem to build one like it. I agree with Coach when he talked about the grit or guys showed because between the injuries and the clear dominance at the line of scrimmage, How were we ever in the game?? It’s gotta be Heart!

ND OL is the best in the country. Mostly 5th year seniors, with a ton of playing time. Even with BV's blitz packages, we couldn't get to Book, and lost him several times when he broke the pocket.

Their DL is very solid too. Run blitzes by ND, had holes filled, especially with the safety running down hill.

We get to play the again, and hopefully at full strength.

We win the rematch, and possibly both make the playoff.

When's the last time, the Tigers had so many injuries? Avoiding multiple "critical" injuries over the past 5 years has been a blessing.

Both lines were not dominated last night. We lost with what was essentially our 2nd/3rd team in double overtime.
