When the shot clock hits zero the horn goes off

There's not a .9 second delay. That ref was full of Crapola.

The announcers were full of crap, and the call was correct.

The game clock showed 40.1 seconds, and the shot clock showed 3 seconds when the ball was in bounded. When the shot was released, the game clock showed 37.3 seconds. That means 2.8 seconds had elapsed, within the 3 second window. It was a good shot, made within the time left. Correct call by the refs.

Your right. Also, When the clock hit 39.1, the shot clock changed from 3 to 2.

The refs explanation was wrong but the clock was right. When the clock says 3, there could be between 2.1 and 3. There could not be 3.9.

However, they had reset the clock, so there was exactly 3 seconds. The clock started with 40.1 and at 39.2, the shot clock changed to 2. The ball was out of shooter’s hand before shot clock hit 0.
