What would it take?

Sep 23, 2019, 2:50 PM

The question about Brent to SCAR got me to thinking. Brent and I have a few things in common (actually, virtually nothing in common other than age). I am a 50ish Clemson grad and South Carolina resident, about 5 years away from an empty nest, with zero football knowledge.

But what if Muscoot wanted a scapegoat, and came to me with a 5 year contract offer, half guaranteed. During the contract period, I could not wear orange or attend any Clemson athletic event that did not also involve SCAR. And of course, I would have to stand on the sideline at all football games wearing Coot gear. Other than that, I would basically have no job responsibilities, other than maybe handing out the celebratory ice cream. What would my annual contract price be to take the job?

As attractive as the money might be, plus the added bonus of getting credit for irreparably breaking their program, I don't believe there is a figure I would take. Would love to say make it $1MM/year and I will suck it up, then retire to Clemson, but just could not form the words. How about you?

For free tickets to every home and away tiger game for the rest of my life I'd probably do it for 50k a year more than that
