What will the narrative be after Saturday's game...

Sep 23, 2022, 2:37 PM

Clemson rolls so Wake clearly wasn't a top 20 team.

Clemson struggles in to win another close game and Wake gets no credit for being a legitimate top 20 team.

The above scenarios do contemplate a Clemson loss since we all know that isn't going to happen.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

"Wait 'til next week vs NC State."

Regardless of the margin of victory Saturday, it will prove nothing to many.

Clemson has never received any credit for beating Wake ...

Sep 23, 2022, 2:58 PM

... regardless of the score or the circumstances. It’s simply expected.

But, lose to them and the sh*t hits the fan!

Steely Dan said it best ... Call me Deacon Blues.

If we don't have 700 yards and hold Wake to 100 yards,

Sep 23, 2022, 3:25 PM

then the narrative will be that Streeter and Goodwin suck and Dabo shouldn't hire within, we need to get out of the ACC, and of course the normal nonsensical mumbling about the portal.

Put Dylan Thompson in thar!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

beating Wake doesn't move the needle and shouldn't.....

Sep 23, 2022, 3:50 PM

We destroyed them last year. They just don't match up well with us AT ALL, regardless of our offensive issues.

the only time you can use the Wake game as a barometer is if we lose.........and I don't see that happening...........we win by 14+

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is validity to the narrative though

Sep 23, 2022, 3:58 PM

Wake average class the past 4 years, per the 247 composite is 65th. They have like 2 4*s on their entire roster. The talent disparity is absurd. So unless you think Clawson & Co are just astronomically better coaches than Dabo & Co. the game shouldnt be a struggle.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Honestly...

Sep 23, 2022, 4:39 PM

Hartman is a dang good QB who is just as good if not better than DJ IMO.

Their OC is also one of the best in college football while Streeter...well...isn't yet.

Fair points and likely why the line is only -7

Sep 23, 2022, 4:46 PM

Which i think we easily cover btw.

There are a number of schools that could be plugged into the next statement, BUT...

At no point EVER should Wake Forest (or UNC) have a better coordinator/playcaller than Clemson

Biggie, that's not like you to jump to baseless conclusions like a dumper.

Sep 23, 2022, 6:30 PM [ in reply to Honestly... ]

Streeter has been on OC for 4 games, and we've won every one of them IN SPITE of some issues at the key position on the field.

Dumping on Mr. Streeter four games into his career as OC for us, four wins, well, that's pretty lame and not like you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"In the last 4 years"..

Sep 23, 2022, 6:27 PM [ in reply to There is validity to the narrative though ]

Wake is 33rd in wins in the country. Much better than you acting like recruiting rankings are the be-all-to-end-all. There's a lot more to the game than recruiting rankings, and considering we're the 2nd beat team in the last decade should show you that plain as day.

In the last 4 years, Wake has six less wins than LSU, five less wins than Florida and Oregon, four less wins than Texas A&M, three less wins than Florida one less win than Wisconsin and Penn State, and equal wins to NC State.

Each and every one of those teams has better rated players than Wake, and in many cases its much, kuch more talent.

In the last 4 years, Wake has more wins than Texas, Auburn, Miami, Washington State, Mississippi State and Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Southern Cal, and Florida State .. just to name a few programs who absolutely have higher "recruiting rankings" than Wake.

Should we beat Wake? Absolutely. Should we just say , "recruiting rankings blah blah blah"? No, it doesn't work like that, obviously. Wake is a better football program than you're giving them credit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok Mr recruiting doesnt matter; in the last 4 years, Clemson

Sep 23, 2022, 6:59 PM

Has beaten Wake by 60, 49, 24, and 21 points. But cool heart warming story on how elite wake is, or whatever.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't saybit doesn't matter. I'm saying you can't break it

Sep 24, 2022, 11:11 AM

down as simplisticly as you tried to do, and the broader data clearly shows that.

At this point I just want to win. I don't care what the narrative is. Just when baby! With streeter and dabo trying to call please the days of us blowing people out are probably over with. From here on out a win is a win.

Depends how it looks. Everyone already knows Wake isn't that good. It depends how we look doing it.

That often doesn't mean enough with the voters if other teams are looking better. We shall see. I think we win by 14+ though.

Great question BCUF!

I'm going with option A for 100-million dollars Alex!
