What was the hottest game you have been to at Memorial Stadium?

Apr 27, 2022, 5:52 PM

For me, it was when we played Troy in 2016. It was horrendously hot.

Without a doubt it was the 1984 Georgia game. Afternoon game temps in the 80s to low 90s. I was one of the physicians working the first aid stands that year. As you know there are first aid places on both upper decks and both lower decks. I was working the visiting side lower deck. People were passing out from the heat. Drunk people were being sent to the hospital due to dehydration from the heat. We sent one man with a heart attack to the hospital.
We had several people receiving IV fluids on the cots that had been put out underneath the stands. And I was told by my colleagues working the home side lower deck that they had multiple Clemson band members who got so hot in the band uniforms that they had to receive IV fluids after halftime. But for the fans in the direct sun on the south side, Getting drunk and getting overheated is definitely not a good combination!!

For me, I'll say both the 2016 Troy and 2019 TA&M games for me. My son came to visit from IL and nearly melted at the Troy game. I was in good shape and used to the heat and it was a tough day. At the A&M game, more than one person passed out or got dizzy and nearly passed out near us.

Odd there's a lot of 2019 TA&M replies. I was at that game and while it was hot, I wouldn't say it was close to the hottest most of us have been to.

For me it has to be 2011 Troy. That was brutal. 2014 SC State was rough too. So many people got carted away by EMS that day.

We were just below the A&M section and it was odd that it seemed to definitely be affecting the A@M fans much worse. The concourse area was slap full of A@M fans who were sitting on the floor missing the majority of the game. I heard one older lady who was a A@M fan say to another lady it was the most miserable she’s ever been at a game. It was hot, but didn’t seem unbearable.

UGA in 03 was the hottest in my opinion

The hottest game I have ever been to was not at Memorial Stadium, but it did involve Clemson.

September 11, 1993, at Doak Campbell Stadium. I won't mention the score. That's not the purpose of this thread. But, the temperature was in the mid-90s. No clouds. 90% humidity. No breeze.

No other game I've ever attended even comes close.

No doubt 2003 vs Jawja noon game in August

Apr 27, 2022, 9:11 PM

Our first play from scrimmage the center threw up on the ball right before he snapped it. Whitehurst promptly fumbled the befouled pigskin and Jawja recovered. The game Actually went downhill from there. It was the only game in my life that I left early. At halftime the girl I was dating at the time started to get sick from the heat and dehydration so we decided to prevent a bad game from getting any worse and found some air conditioning for the 2nd half.
