Mike Young

Mike Young seemed to be a popular choice among many Clemson fans to replace Brownell a few years ago before he was hired by Va Tech.
Virginia Tech had turned into a pretty strong basketball program under Buzz Williams. It hasn't been as good under Mike Young so far. 16-16, 15-7 and 10-10 this season.
Based on this, I think it is probable Young would have Larry Shyatt type of seasons at Clemson.

He took over a program about equal to where Clemson was when Brownell took over (3 straight tourneys) and has done no worse than Brownell in his first 3 years. Brownell won 22 conference games in his first 3 years and Mike Young has won 18 with 11 games to go this year and was shorted 7 games last season. Most importantly Mike Young is 3-0 against Brownell as coach of Va Tech.

Mike Young was in our backyard for a long time and we didn’t go get him. He proves he’s the better coach whenever he plays us. I believe he beat us once while at his old job just for good measure. Meanwhile, we continue to be somewhere south of mediocre.

So proving he is a better coach is beating Clemson even if his team is .500 on the season and doesn't make the big dance?

when Brownell started coaching here. Young’s teams play 20 minus the Covid year. Can’t really compare total wins. You need to dig deeper and look at % for the most accurate info.

Isn't that just 3 games? 2 last year and 1 this year so far?

Virginia Tech got blown out at home by Wake Forest, 80-61. Lost to Dayton, lost to NCSU at home (Clemson beat NC State on the road), lost to Virginia in Charlottesville (Clemson won there in a blowout), they lost to BC which ya'll consider a bad team, etc.
FSU has been very good in recent years. Clemson is typically a tough team to beat at home under Brownell.
